What kind of dyno numbers are you guys seeing from LY6 engines.
I have 2009 LY6 with LS3 intake/vvt cam/1.875 long tube headers, What should I expect?
Thanks in advance.

I am installing a Mast Motorsports LY6SS cam in my LY6. Mast says that it will boost the horsepower from 367 to 509. I will keep you posted.

Wow that’s impressive, what torque numbers are they calling out? Please do post your numbers after the dyno.

I have the Mast HO VVT cam, but only stock LS3 camaro exhaust manifolds on my 2010 L96 (flexfuel version of LY6). My dyno was 385 hp/383 ft-lbs rwhp. I was hoping for 400, but didn't quite make it. But when driving, I find the power levels to be.....acceptable!!!!

Default 99 Tahoe Project, LY6 swap

I just got a 2005 6.0 LQ4 from an H2. with trans and transfer case. I'm new to the swap idea and was wondering if it will work in my 99 Tahoe and still pass smog? and what all changes have to be made to make it work? any ideas?

I was given a 2010 ly6 from a friend of mine. has 823 heads. nothing was wrong with it when he got it. he tore it apart and had plans for it, but the car he was going to put it in is gone now. so my plans are;

already purchased l92 take out pistons and rods new to make it a 6.2
.600 lift 218 duration cam
rebuilt heads with stainless valves
comp cams beehives
ls7 rockers, have roller tips oem
stainless headers
ls3 intake

great low buck build so far, around 2300. in it
so far that's it. it will go in one of my Porsche 911's when im done. my goal is 550whp on motor alone. I think its totally doable.

I'm pretty sure LS7 rockers do not have roller tips and they are also different offset and will not work on the L92 style heads your LY6 has.

So then you are going to bore it to 4.060? Unless it needs to be bored, this doesn't seem worth the work.

actually the ly6 shares the offset rockers with the l92, ls3, and ls7 engines. and yes the ls7 has roller fulcrum and solid tip rockers oem. I have a set of lingerfelter modded roller tip rockers from ls7 gm oem rockers. yes I am boring the block to l92 stock bore. the sleeves are the same od on the ly6 as the l92 so no heat issues involved. it will be a iron block ls3 basically. thanks

Cobalt964,
I'd be weary of installing SS valves in a rect. port head. Just asking for problems IMO. Just buy replacement LS3s'

With my LY6, I'm making well over 400rwhp with an aftermarket LS3 cam, through a 4L80, but I had to delete the vvt. I didn't give up any torque, either with 400 at the wheels. I've got a big fat torque curve and a big pile of mid to high 11 time slips without a drag setup at 3700lb race weight.

Brother...
I just picked up a ly6 and 6 speed auto to swap into my 84 El Camino. I would love to talk with ya-all for any heads up before I start pulling out the 305.

The LY6 throttle body will not bolt to the LS1 intake. 3-bolt vs 4-bolt.

Hi,

I'm just wondering if the Edelbrock cross ram dual throttle body intake will fit this motor, essentially, everything external is the same as an LS3, am I correct in assuming that?

I want this intake as I will be doing a twin turbo build somewhere in the future, and the twin throttle bodies just really make sense. You can get Dual in / Dual outlet intercoolers now, readily available on fleabay and also the open market.

As I have akuminium LS3 L92 heads, I wasn't thinking there should be much fuss bolting the intakes up..

Anyone had any experience with this?

Regards,

Tom from Oz..

If it bolts to a LS3 or L99, it will bolt to a LY6 and its replacement motor. (L96 IIRC )
