Default Let me get this straight (oil pans).....

Getting an LQ9 for my Chevelle. So, according to folks here, the Autokraft, CTS-V and H3 oil pans fit well on the A Body's, correct? Which ones am I leaving out (looking for decent design and ground clearance)? I plan on using Edelbrock engine mounts (if that helps any). Whichever one you recommend provide part # (if you have it handy)

Stock F-body and Autokraft would get the the best ground clearance.. followed by the CTS-V and then the LH8 (H3) pans.

Stock F-Body and Autokraft would be just about at the same line as the bottom of the x-member.. the CTS-V would be about 1" below.. LH8 would add another inch ?... unless you raised the engine high that what the Edelbrock plates would do.

I had a F-Body pan in my Chevelle using the early BRP.. and like C said, it was about 1/4" to 3/8" from the X-member and about that much behind the passenger head to firewall/heater-AC box. it is tight.. that is why I when with the CTS-V pan.

Hmm, I'll hold off then on the H3 pan and check out the CTS-V and F Body pans. The more clearance the better

Some A-body guys have had steering link clearance issues with the autokraft pan. It does not have the recessed areas that the f-body pan has in the front corners.

Good point Rocky... some have rasised the engine a bit to get that clearance but either using taller engine or frame mounts.

The newer BRP kit for the A-Body does sit the engine a bit higher for pan and steering clearance.

I used the Autokraft pan and the Edelbrock kit in my Chevelle with the standard motor mounts and towers and I have not had any interference issues. I did shim the pass side about 1/2" but that was necessary to clear the #8 header pipe from interferring with the frame. Probably due to frame sag.

Is that the Edelbrock exhaust system?

Well, I have Edelbrock LS engine mounts that I plan to use. Wonder if the F body pan might work for my setup. What's the part # for the F body pan kit?

Check the oil pan stickys. All part numbers should be there for all the oil pans. You will also be able to see the pics of the oil pans.
