Default 07 lq9 24 or 58 x crank sensor? = which pcm

Never ran into this before, (and havnt yet on this one) but I thought someone here would know, and be able to save me some time.

Which crank sensor does a a 2007 lq9 use? Can I run it with an 01 pcm? I ve done a few swaps, but never with anything newer then 04 and normally I get the pcm with the swap engine but not this time. I thought it would be a good idea to address this if its an issue.

If the crank sensor plug is gray its a 58X if its black it's a 24X. I'm betting its gray, so you're not going to using the 2001 PCM

Default adaptor

It is probably the gray connector on the crank sensor itself which means it is a 58x Reluctor Wheel on the crankshaft, but here is a nifty adaptor which means you can use the 2001 PCM. Good Luck!

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering recently announced the availability of our 58x to 24x reluctor wheel/trigger wheel electronic adapter module for all GM Gen III V8 (LS1, LS6, LQ4, LQ9 etc.) and early Gen IV V8 equipped vehicles.
The Lingenfelter TRG-001 module allows Gen IV GM V8 engines with the 58x crankshaft trigger or reluctor wheel and the 4x camshaft timing gear to be installed in earlier vehicles designed to accept the 24x crankshaft trigger wheel and the 1x camshaft trigger wheel without having to take the engine apart to change the cam timing gear or the crankshaft reluctor wheel.

The Lingenfelter TRG-001 is a plug-and-play" design that connects directly to your existing wiring harness and to the factory engine sensors. No additional wiring for the conversion module is needed except on some early Gen IV V8 engine equipped vehicles that will need a camshaft sensor extension harness.

Click here for a link to the installation instructions/detailed product description.

Default Lq9

2007 is a transition year for the CK trucks where they switched to the new chassis, switched from 24x with a PCM to 58x with an E38 ECM. If the LQ9 came out of a 2007 Silverado or Sierra "classic" then it is a 24x crank and will work with the 2001 PCM. If the engine was out of a new body style/new chassis vehicle then it is a 58x.

As someone else already pointed out, assuming nobody installed the wrong part, "If the crank sensor plug is gray its a 58X if its black it's a 24X."

If you know the VIN of the vehicle the engine came out of then it is easy to tell from the calibration files on TIS2WEB which ECM or PCM it has (and thus what crank reluctor wheel it has).

ok, I remembered something about connector color but is that the plug in (wire harness end) or the receiver (the actual sensor)?

This one is a black sensor, black recepticle that the wire harness plugs into.
The harness plug is on there (wires cut) and the plug end is white with the gray cap over the top of the wires as they leave.

This means black 24 x right?

I believe the black sensor is on the rear of the motor and the gray one is on the timing cover.

You're probably better off with an older(2002 and older) 24x pcm since things like AC, and cruise control are easier since the pcm controls these directly rather than through separate modules and serial data.
