Default Realistic 5.3 swap price into third gen Camaro

Just seeing what I would realistically be looking at to do something like this. 5.3 would be just cammed/intake/exhuast, and probably use the stock 700r4 in the camaro as is. Both fuel injected and carb'd answers would be appreciated, thanks.

My total is about $1200 currently and I deal hunt everything. Expect to add another grand if you arent building your own harness or fabbing necessary mounts. Mods are extra costs ontop of all of this

Honestly?? About twice, maybe 2-1/2 times what you're budgeting...

I usually multiply everything by 3, It will take 3 times longer, 3 times more money, and be 3 times more difficult than you plan on! At least it seems that way to me.

But if this was quick, cheap and easy, everybody would be doing it, right?

For just a stock 5.3 if you found a deal on a pullout, you could probably have it in and running for around $1500, then add your cam, springs, intake swap, headers, etc. Here is just a general rundown saying you picked up a easily available longblock.
$450 for longblock
$200 for harness
$75 pcm
$40 mounts
$225 pan & pickup
$60-75 for manifolds
$250 alt/wp/ps pump/starter
$80 intake tube/filter
$170 pump/reg/fittings
$50 cranks spacer
Thats just kinda a off the top of my head rundown. I don't know if the stock truck intake will clear the hood or not. I really don't see it being much cheaper going carbed, when you figure 6-700 for the intake, ig box, and plus buying a carb. I have ran across a couple complete 5.3 pullouts, with harnesses, pcm, accesories for around $800 or so, if you found a deal like that it would def help, but still adds up pretty quick.

I am in a similar situation, planning a 5.3 into my 64 chevelle that currently has a 396 and 700r4. I can send you a spreadsheet with part numbers and prices for the following scenarios if you want.

5.3 with 4L60E total cost - $2548

5.3 using my 700R4 total cost - $2007

5.3 carbed with my 700R4 total cost - $2333

LS1 with 4L60E total cost - $3298

A good running engine will cost you around $400 for a 5.3. That may even come with accessories.

The Kmember and steering will be about $200.
harness and PCM $150
LS1 intake and fuel rails with injectors $100.
fuel pump and lines $200
Trans crossmember $35
ls1 oil pan setup $150
LS1 gauge cluster $80
Radiator hoses upper and lower $50

That's about the run down of parts you need. Other stuff will tack onto the price.
