58' Chevy Pickup
I have an 04 GTO with some mild work done, (see sig). Im going to be transplanting my stock bottem end into my truck (58' chevy apache). I have a set of stock heads for it and plan on a baby cam. I dont want much if any power out of it. I just want a car that runs well, cranks cold and gets good mileage. I will also be transferring my T-56 into the truck as well as try to use the stock supsension and rear end from the goat. I know that sounds crazy but I think it will ride nice and shouldnt be to bad. What Im wondering is how I should go about everything. I would like to do Fuel injection ( I have stock injectors as well) but Im on a budget. (about $8000 total, with paint wheels&tires and all) What should I do about a wiring harness and ECU or should I just say Smurf it and go Carb. Also with the T-56 how much of a pain is that gonna be with all the hydraulics and so on. The GTO doesnt need to keep anything but the ECU and harness. The next tranny will be a th-400 and next rear end will be a 9". I appreciate all the info so be mean.

My buddy just picked up a 68 C10. We are putting a stock 5.3 in it with a 4l60e. IMO.... Keep the injection as it will help with mileage and driveability. For a harness, there are plenty of standalone aftermarket solutions out there. ECU, you could go with a 411 PCM and drive by cable to keep cost down.

Could you please break that down for me. What exactly is a 411 PCM and where would I get one. How easy would it be to tune and I planed on doing a cable driven setup anyway. That drive by wire stuff scares me.

411 PCMs were used from 99 up to 03(input requested) in Camaros/Firebired/Corvettes and trucks. They have the Red/Blue PCM connectors. Nice thing is that PCM can support drive by wire or drive by cable, it is just a function of the tune. Tuning is straight forward. Nice thing from a wiring standpoint is that there is less wiring involved when compared with the newer Green/Blue PCMs. Hope that helps.

There are quite a bit of nice harnesses out there. Not too sure about the $350 one. Search standalone harness on ebay you will find quite a bit of stuff.

Still have a few questions on this and will be buying parts soon so any help is appreciated. Specifically I need to know about the tranny and how much, if any, electrical stuff there is to go with it and where I should start with my ecu and harness??? Also advice on A/C stuff will help me for this spring when I try to finish it up.

For the hydraulics you might be able to just reuse all the stuff from the GTO, the electrical on the other hand isn't that hard, but if I were to do it again I would order one of those standalone harnesses from EBAY and use an Fbody computer.

Thanks for the pics. Im going to be home in about 2 months and really tear into this thing. I have a few questions but I will just break out a list. Everyone feel free to add to the list as you see its needed.
Engine and ECU
ECU- 99 or newer mounted in cab (get at junkyard) PRICE???
Harness- will get aftermarket (found on ebay) $350
Engine- already have minus intake and cam
Intake&cam- LS1 or LS6 whatever I get my hands on and baby cam (215ish duration, 525ish lift.
Tranny
Tranny- all hydraulics can go from goat
Tranny elect- I know it has a couple of things but not sure, need help here.
Rear End
Rear end- from the GTO measures 66" hub-hub. Close to first gen camaro sizes.
suspension- use the irs from the goat, (will have to make lower A-arm mounts and shock mounts up top) I dont think it will be to difficult.
brakes- Already there just make some new lines
Body stuff
Suicide door kit (my hinges are gone and these are cheaper)
Entire bed- leaning towards a 88-98 stepside bed but I need a PICTURE!!!!
wheels- TTII's baby!!!! gonna go 18x10's and 17x9's
