Default 5.3 sitting a long time?

I have been looking at a bunch of 5.3 LS engines for a swap I have planned. Some of the engines may have sat for quite a while. If I can't find something locally I will probably get it shipped. Would an engine that sat for a year or two be worth looking at? Will there be any oil left on the bearings?

Some of the ones I have swapped sat for a long time and my main junkyard drains all oil before they sit. I fill them with fresh oil, fresh filter filled with oil obviously and removed the plugs and crank them until oil pressure is achieved once installed. Never had a problem with one yet.

Thanks But I am looking for 2005,6,7 for the DBW making cruise control an easy addition. Also the years I am looking at don't have the return line at the engine.

I have looked at a lot of local stuff and many have been in vehicles hit in the front so needing water pump, alt, brackets etc all for $800-$1000 some including the DBW pedal, TAC box, Harness, MAF.

I may have found what I am happy with. It is very low miles including everything even the 02 sensors. It is a 2005 so I assume it has to have sat a long time due to the low miles. I want to make sure that isn't a reason to stay away? I am not in a rush and can keep looking but except for the sitting I like this package?

I wouldnt be overly concerned about the engine sitting indoors or covered, but i'd definitely spray some lubricant into every cylinder before any rotating or firing happens.

When I questioned them they said they fog the cylinders and store them in a climate controlled warehouse.

Did a 2005 5.3 come with a clutch fan? I thought they all were electric by then? The one I am looking at is out of a suberban if it matters.

The only problem I've had with junkyard motors that sat around for a while is the injectors.

I bought an LS1 that sat for a couple of years and it ran so bad i took the injectors down and had them ultrasonically cleaned.

I bought a Honda motor a year ago and it had sat for about four years. I took the injectors out and let them soak in SeaFoam for a couple of days. It was rough for about ten minutes and then cleaned up fine. Was a lot cheaper than the ultrasonic cleaning

Here is the engine I was looking at. I'll let you know when it gets here.
