Default 1989 S10 Blazer thinkin about an LS motor for it

Hi Guys,
I just picked up a 1989 S10 Blazer 2 door that has a stock 350 TBI motor, shortie headers,a fresh 700R4 trans and 3.73 gears,I have it at my shop now all torn apart I'm repainting it and doing a custom interior and C6 wheels. I'm undecided if i want to build the current motor by putting on some Vortec heads cam, carb and MSD or just dropping an Ls motor and trans in it maybe a 5.3 or even a 6.0. Its going to be mostly daily driven but i would like it to run low 12's, for the fun factor and to surprise a few people, and I know that to squueze that much power out of the current motor I'm going to have to have a fairly big cam and such unless you tell me otherwise. My thought was a Ls motor that makes a lot more power stock and maybe putting a small cam in it and mill the heads.I figure around 380-400 rwhp should get me where I want to be. Ive built quite a few Ls1 vettes that ran in the elevens but I don't know if its going to be easy to wire up an Ls harness into this truck, I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

John

Ya just some adapter plates ($70) and it will bolt in. I'm not for sure about the trans though, may need a 4l60e or something like that. Or you can go with a th350 or 400 but it wouldn't be very street friendly.

All you really need is an engine wiring harness and the PCM. Then you can work your own harness and make it a standalone. I don't think it's that hard of a swap honestly.

Thanks for the help,
I guess if I search around here I can find out more about mounts and such
Just got a call today found a 6.0 and trans with computers and wiring harness out of a wasted 2006 Sierra SS 24K on it I'm going to have to change the tail shaft on the trans but other than that I think I'm fine. Good thing I'm in the Collision Biz I have many friends in the salvage biz that are offering me all kinds of engines, lol, Figured the SS setup is good he says it has 350 Hp stock, going to pick up an LS2 Corvette manifold and a 90mm throttle body, also going to look into a small cam and milling the heads a bit.
This should be fun
I'll keep you guys updated

I am just finishing my swap into my 82 S10 I went with the LS1 carb set up with the MSD 6010 carshopinc's header mount kit TH400 T-Rex cam worked heads etc. Realistically best money spent would be on a 6.0 truck motor pull the heads have them decked some to up compression some bowl blending valve job and your choice of intake depending on if you want carb or FI. As for headers I don't like the ones I bought I wish I would have went with the BRP's and mounts I have them now and now have to reinstall them. And a streetable cam 224-228 with a 114LSA and you'll plenty of power nice sound and great manor's on the street. That's 2 cent's worth lol. Fairly easy swap tho. GET The H3 hummer pan!
