Default Tach Doesn't Registar Correctly

Hooked up my tach from pin #10 to the stock
tach in my 85 ElKO SS, and it only reads 1000rpm at about 70mph.

I heard that there was something called doubler that
you have to install.

Has anyone had this problem and how did you solve it?

Thanks,
Joe

tuner can fix it in the ecm, or if you are running aftermarket tach just switch to 4 cyl mode

...or you can use a Dakota Digital SGI-8 if you are trying to run factory gauges and can't / don't want to mess with the tune. They also make an SGI-5 for the speedometer.

So if I'm running a factory V8 tach in an older car I need to let the person doing my reprogramming know so they can fix it to read correctly?
