I'm looking to stick my 408/T56 into a 3rd Gen, I plan to use a LS Converison K-member to where the Engine would be in the stock location as the 350, so the Tranny would stay in the stock location too.

It's for a TH 400..I want to swap in a T56. From the look of things in the pics the mounting poing on the T56 is about 2-3" forward of the mount on the TH 400. I know the T56 is a couple of inches behind the 700R4.

This is the one that UMI sells for the 700R4..

From what I have found this is where the Mounting point on the TH 400 is when compared to the T56..



Anyone have any ideas on which one would work the best?

If need be I could tweak it with some flat steel..it would be nice to get a good idea on which one would be better to start with. From the looks of it, it looks like the Mount will end up in the center of that cross-bar so the TH 400 one would be better.

i hear of 4th gen people using the t56 crossmember for th400 swaps, so i dont see why it would be too far off going the other ways.

Well I think the TH 400 is a couple of inches longer than the T56..I was talking to a friend of mine about it..

i have the dimension of the bell to trans mount for a short shaft 400 somewhere at the house, ill update when i find it. Are you planning on welding onto it if the mount is off?

Get this and weld a plate on it for the TA mount

Your exhaust routing will be... interesting with the UMI piece
