Default 2004 gto bcm,

Is there a market for these at all? I wonder is it worth any time to put it up for sell or just donate it to the trash can.

From my reading yes. But I'm using VDO gauges. If you know anyone that needs one, I'll be happy to let them have it for shipping. Hate to throw things out.

Ok, can someone help me out a little here. Does someone have a Pic of what the BCM looks like? Also does it happen to have "power train interface module" written on it? Or is that something different??

Here's a picture of what we needed to get the dash module to work in my project.....the wiring schematic is in process ad will be posted when it's in legible form........ The bigger unit is the body control module and the smaller is the Partstrain interface module, you will also need the plugs ...

Glad we asked. I thought the "powertrain interface module" was the same as the BCM.

So, then ... is there a market for that module? This is what came w/ my engine package

My Modules are 2005-06.....don't know if they are the same.......As far as the market go's.......who knows.....usually the modules are encrypted and have to match the ECM....My harness was modified by John @ Speartech (best money I ever spent) and he removed that function so I didn't have to be concerned about that......So...it all depends on the total end package..............

Does anybody know if this is the same as a 4th gen module? Or at least the same wiring? I may be interested in a BCM also but it would have to work with a 04 setup.

If anybody still has one of these let me know. I am interested in one to see if I can get it to control my fans.

I have the PIM and also a Throttle positioning module. Can someone tell me what the function of these are and do you need them to retrofit? Sorry not trying to steal your thread.

I finally just tossed mine in the trash about a month ago.

So far I haven't noticed any reason why I'd need it... maybe it had to do w/ the cruise control considering the throttle on the '04 GTO is cable operated.

The only thing they are for is the cruise control and the Traction control systems. SO they are worthless for a swap unless you retian the entire gto wiring setup. Most people just grab an S10 cruise unit as its stand alone and wire it up.

Because the GTO gauge cluster operates on the CAN Bus and the BCM (along with the Powertrain Interface Module - PIM) is what's used to generate the serial signals for the factory gauge cluster.

Here's some more info.

Are you sure? He did say 2004 and not 05 or 06.

The question "Why are they required for a GTO gauge cluster swap" bumped a five year old thread alive. So I'm not sure whether the recent question was in specific regard to the 2004 GTO.

I'm pretty sure the 2004 cluster is serial, though not directly interchangeable with the 2005-2006 cluster. I recall reading that the PIM acts as a "translator" between the ECM (or PCM) and BCM. A little more on that topic here.
