Default 4.8/4l60e in a 1987 Grand Wagoneer

I really should have taken pictures as I went along, however, this is not the last you will see of the "Wild Woody." I still plan on swapping in a bigger power plant (6.0) and an 80. First, I am planning on finishing up the 4wd, new paint, some 2500 HD rims, new axles (I'm thinking 14 bolt), and 35 or 36 inch tires should have it lookin just about right in my eyes. Plenty of other little piddly things I want to mess around with too.

Congrats lil bro!

For all of you all who aren’t familiar with this project (most everyone), you should know that this was a major undertaking for Wilson. He bought the truck when he was 17, and with some gentle nudging from me, he decided to trash the idea of just rebuilding the stock 360 and make something reliable and LSX powered.

All of the fabrication, from motor and transmission mounts to frame repair was done by him with a small Miller welder in one bay of our garage in only a few days. The project sat for some due to him going to college, and fired on his 18th birthday last week. The pictures really don’t do the swap justice at all. It is extremely clean, runs extremely well and, other than the 2.73 gear that was a remnant of the old 727 trans, is a great driver.
