Default What oil pan?

SO I'm doing a swap of a 5.3 into a 72 chevelle, but I don't know what oil pan to use? The motor is out of an 04 truck and I'm really hoping that it might fit. Can anyone tell me if the truck pan will fit in the car?

It has stock small block springs and 225/70r15 tires on the front with LT headers and now that I have the new tires from my old 225/70r14 the headers haven't even nipped the pavement.

thanks again guys

the truck pan will fit physically fit but will be close to 4 inches lower than the frame. I like the ctv-s pan or the f body pan (both will need a 2 inch square cut out of them and the oil pickup must be lengthened). It also depends on what adapter plates you use!

modified truck pan and ctv-s pan (used for a 1972 chevelle with standard generic mount plates)

I have a CTS-V pan that is not notched in my 71 Chevelle. I am using BRP style plate and have relocated the Frame Stands so that the pan is cleared.

no waiting the swap is going down on august 18th-completion because my fall semester starts and I want to be able to drive my car. I think I am just going to take the truck pan and take its depth down to 6" from the 8 3/4" it is currently since my dads friend owns an awning company and has guys who weld aluminum all day. do you guys think I'll still have enough oil capacity? Obviously I know the sump will have to be shortened to match.

youll be losing approximately 1 quart as measured by water volume. your new capacity will be similar to the f body pan which is 5.5 quarts, maybe a little less.
