Chevelle long tubes???
Ok so I am considering trying some fbody ls1 headers on my 71 chevelle. Has anyone done this, will it work? I am only planning on keeping them on there for about a year then swapping over to a turbo setup so it’s kinda hard to justify spending the $650-1000 on a set of swap headers. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The same reason they are charging $8000+ to rebuild a SBC with no electronics fatored in..... Supply and demand.... Its still a SBC....
At least you still can get the LQ's at a junk yard for $800-$1500
But try to build a SBC 406 and a LSX 402(aside the electronics) the price will be inflated on the LSX 402..... But I love my LS2.....
The price is what it is beacuse they can get it..... sad to say...

haha i dont even wana hear the prices on those..lol.. 1500 bucks or so.. some company should step up and build a cheap set of headers long tube... 250 or less.. is reasonable,, they build f-body headers for cheap... depends on brand and materail used.

I think I got my Hooker Super Comp long tubes, ceramic coated for $600 at summit with a coupon code. Yeah, it sucks they're more expensive than say SBC headers of the same type... but you know, these headers are for a combination that never existed from the factory. I'm just glad they exist at all.
The Hookers fit great for me btw using Edelbrock conversion mounts, frame mounts set 1" back (just re-drilled the holes and bolted them back up), and an f-body pan. They are nice and tight to my floors, but not too tight. Great ground clearance ect... you're just not going to get that with a cheaper set of headers. You're paying for the R&D. SBC headers for a A-body has been done a billion times, heck yeah they're going to be cheaper.

The bad side oof the Eddy's they fit close on the crossmeber on the driver side, barely clearing... But they seal well... The bolts are still locked tight on the heads, none are loose, 2000 miles later....
