Default LS1 Cruise RPM

I am looking for some suggestions for the final cruise RPM for a stock LS1 / 4L60E combination. This is going to be in a 59 Bel Air so, weight is a consideration. After looking up some torque curves, I was thinking around 2200 @ 65mph. I am getting ready to select a diff gear ratio and had figuered some of you would have some suggestions based from prior experience.

Thanks,

Tim

If the LS1 is stock, it'll happily pull <1600 at 65 mph. And most of the bolt ons won't hurt that. Cruise rpm mostly needs to be matched to your cam.

With my nearly stock LS1/4l60e, 3.80-1 Gears and 28" tire I am between 21-2200 at 65. Works great, highway mileage is 27+.

My 54 has a 4l80 which is a slightly numerically higher OD with 26" tires & 3.00 rear will pull 8% grades without shifting out of OD while the cruise is on. these engines make good torque down low.
