Default Lets talk about chevyII headers(again)!

Ive looked at old threads about chevyII headers and its worse than trying to find out which oil pan to us on a project.I am referring to 66-67 and first gen chevy II's since 68 up is pretty much the same as first gen camaro fitment.I want no part of a ls1 chevyII with original front end so the new brp headers for stock clip will not work for me.I know a lot of you guys have researched this a lot so what are the options for a real header for after market front clip in66-67 chevyII with ls1?Stainless would be wonderful but usually very expensive.I also know a lot of folks have given up and built there own.Ideas, opinions, options?

If you want no issues then I would say CBR is the way to go but you have to use their front end. Which is probably on of the best out there. Check out there website churchboysracing.com. Chuck church is a member on here and is very help full. I have heard of a few other headers that work with the tci but I think they were shorties and still were really tight.

The CBR headers fit some of the aftermarket clips,I sure someone will chime in on fitments.I think they work with TCI standard clip but not sure about the new pro touring clip

I have the CBR on my heidts front end, 1963 nova post. I also bought a pypes universal xpipe kit and some borla xr1's to keep everything stainless.

Mr. Nolan and I both had S&S headers and we now have the CBR setup, that says something. The pypes xpipe kit was super easy to install and now I have a complete custom stainless exhaust system and have less than $1100 into the whole thing.

The cbr headers are beautiful, how much are they? What other options are out there?Lets put them all in this thread so they can be found in one place.S&S is out of buisness so that option is gone. The S&S part numbers were the same for the chevyII , 55 cheverolet and old model corvette with ls1.That should open a few doors. What about schoenfield,I hear they have a chevyII ls1 header.

Schoenfield does not have headers that will fit the factory frontend I know for sure. I have talked to a rep a few times about making some headers only to never get them to call back or answer any emails. They do make a set of ls1 that may fit the after market clip though. But you get what you pay for and CBR header look sweet.

Tci has a set for ls1,its a nice coated header.Dont know anyone that has used them though. They are about $800,almost to the stainless works/cbr price though.Anyone know of any other manufacture that make headers for this application?I want headers for aftermarket clip, not original clip.

Street and Performance makes a set. I am running them on my car with a Heidt's clip and they work fine. They are right at 600 bucks coated. They are mid length, not long tubes. The collector is kinda funky, as it is square, and would require gaskets solely from them.

First chance I get I am swapping them for some CBR stainless long tubes......I already have a set for the wagon. You can tell the quality when you open the box, but then I have never seen Stainless Works half *** anything they do......

Any one built a set of stainless headers for their ls1 chevII?I know the materials are high, anyone have an appx. cost?Looks like a pretty straightforward design looking at the cbr headers.Just trying to look at any and all options.

I built my own 1-7/8" headers for the LS in the wagon. It has a Checkered front clip. I wanted the bigger tubes for the 402 thats going in there later. But they are not stainless. I paid $20 for the flanges and $35 for Hooker collectors. I bought a tube kit from Schoenfeld for $180. I have more than enough tube to make the headers for the turbo car, too. For another $55 for flanges and collectors I am good to go on the sedan.

Great question guys! Here are some facts about our LS ChevyII headers:

-Fits the Chassis Works, Heidts, & TCI chassis (PT and the earlier design). I am certain they will fit the other bolt on clips as well as they are not that much different.

-Works with the Stock front clip with the CBR rack and pinion conversion (will not fit with the stock steering)

-Long tube 1-3/4 design with O2 bungs welded in

-completely tig welded and made right here in OHIO.

-Comes with the proper engine mount plate for engine placement.

If there is enough interest We can certainly do a "Group Buy" I am not a sponsor here on the site so any and all pricing can not be discussed by me other than thru a PM. You can also email me at:

Default exhaust

The CBR/SS is a nice kit but will not work with the T56 i wish the next option will be a t56 version....the Pypes is a Cost effective option its just about half the cost ...but if you want a 3" its a good option.

Not sure the 3 inch system is a big seller? headers and exhaust is almost 2k

CBR headers work fine with a T56 as long as its a hydraulic clutch. The 3 inch exhaust is what will not work with the T56.

As Nova404 stated these will work with the T-56 it is the X-Pipe that runs too close the trans tail shaft for the exhaust to work. Take a look at what Snolan has posted....his is a T-56 trans with the CBR headers.
