LS1/T56 in 1997 E36 M3 - Samberg kit Well, my Samberg kit just arrived and over the next few weeks I will be working with a local shop to do the install. First off, the communication with Justin on ordering of the Samberg kit went great. He was easy to get in contact with and answered the 50+ questions I had on the kit. The kit arrived within a few weeks of ordering which was extremely quick considering I am on the other coast. The subframe and headers look great and the welds look awesome. The steering shaft is also a nice bonus.
I sourced an LS1 out of a 2002 Trans Am with 35,000 miles, and a T56 from a 2000 Camaro which came with a new Ram clutch kit, resurfaced flywheel, and remote bleeder (got lucky on that one
).
I picked up an E36 in December with plans for doing an LS1 swap. The 1997 S52 runs great, with all of its 185,000 original miles. I already have a buyer for the motor and trans, so that helps.
I will be dropping off the headers to be ceramic coated, and I will probably end up powdercoating the subframe and mounts. The turnaround time is about a week, so I won't be tearing the car apart until I get everything back. Next thing to do is to buy a cam with springs and pushrods. I am thinking of a 224/230 cam, as my local reputable LSx shop recommended. They are telling me that they get good results with that cam throughout the RPM range.

4/11/11 - Motor, transmission, clutch line, subframe, driveshaft, steering shaft, power steering lines, fuel lines all done. The shop that is working on the car should have it running in a few days. Just need wiring, exhaust, AC, and some other small things to finish it up.

Ha, I would like to get a vid up asap.
This weekend, I worked on my stage 1 weight reduction and had an appendectomy performed (yes, seriously). When it comes to weight, everything counts
Needless to say, I won't be getting any videos up anytime soon. I am still recovering, and the shop that is working on the car is waiting on parts.
Also trying to find a 3.91 LSD for the rear and ordering subframe bushings for the rear.
That is my excuse for now!
