So today I finally tackled the Wiring bulkhead. The plan was pull the wires I didn't need out of the bulkhead and drop them inside the car. Later when I redo the interior I was going to follow them inside and unpin. I had already cut the wires I dint need short to make the process easier.

I took the bulkhead apart separated the wires into keeping and deleting. I then started to pull the out of the wire separator that clips in the bulkhead. That's when I noticed allot of the wires had a twin. I remember thinking when I was cutting the wires I dint need out "why would all the sensor wires run inside when the ECM is in the engine compartment". I decided to get my meeter out and ck them.

I learned a lesson today, I could have kept my TPI harness intact and maybe sold it. Out of the 50 or so wires in the bulkhead that come from the ECM 30 are pairs that run in from the ECM go about 5" then loop back out of the bulkhead back into the engine compartment. When I was done only 4 wires went into the engine compartment that I didn't need. I put heat shrink on the ends and tucked them in the harness.

Here is a picture of some of the wires that loop back. You can see the sticky crap they seal the bulkhead with about half way.

This place offers good automotive grade wires in 5 foot minimum lengths and factory colors. They also offer high heat tape and loom.

These connectors will work with the LS1 ECM. There will be half as many solder joints by using these.

Thanks
My stock compressor will not work. The LS1 compressor mounts low and I would have had to notch the frame. I found a bracket that allows the use of said compressor and put it in the stock location. I could have notched the frame..It was a question of function and ease of repair in the future.

Default It's in!!

The engine is finally in for good. I had to redo the wiring bulkhead because the engine was too close. The wires all had to be routed out of the top portion of the bulkhead to clear. Now I can start putting it together.

I test fit my manifolds this afternoon. They fit great, I was so happy I for got to take pictures. I did snap a few of them painted with POR-15 Manifold Grey.
I'm still not very sure about the color but I could always have them coated later.

Thanks guys

I almost forgot to mention my trans troubles..the adapter for the 700R4 tail housing places the reluctor ring in the wrong spot. I had to take it to a trans shop. They lined up the ring with a 1996 Corvette VSS that fight right in. They also had to grind a little on the inside of the housing so it would not rub. I don't know how much this would have cost. I had it done as a favor.

This weekend I installed my exhaust manifolds. They fit great!! the hardest part was figuring out what size the bolts were because I had none. I found an ACE hardware that had grade 8 flange head bolts 8mm X 1.25 X 30 with a 10mm head ..$1.20 each, they only had 8 so I have to wait a week for the other 4.

I worked really hard on the PS/Alt bracket today. Believe it or not the PS pressure line will bolt right up after you spend 2 hours tweaking it.
I used the closed end of a 17mm wrench and my bare hands to work it slowly in place. It takes time and patience not to kink it.

The bracket fit well it took 4 bolts 3 10X1.5 X70 MM flange head bolts I found at ACE hardware for 2.69 and one 10X1.5 X60 MM at the bottom 2.10. To hold the alternator in place I got 2 10X1.5 X100MM bolts and a couple of washers.

i'm in the final stages of an lq4 install in a 90 vette. my power steering pulley was rubbing on the upper a-frame bolt. couldn't find a proper pulley so made one by cutting the center hub from the c5 pulley ,then bored the center from a v6 firebird pulley and welded in the c5 hub. new pulley is about an inch smaller in diameter and clears nicely. using a c5 pressure line took about 5 minutes of tweaking to fit.

Odd
I hope I don't run into that problem. I haven't put the Pulley on the pump yet.
