Default Brake light switch

I have a speartech harness going in a square body chevy truck. My question is speartech told me I need a brake light switch for one of their wires. ....where and how are you guys mounting it.

You're truck should already have the correct switch since its an '87. You need one with 2 sets of contacts, they have 4 terminals on them. We would need to know what engine/PCM you're using to say where exactly to hook up the wires because GenIII's arte different than GenIV's

Have you actually asked Speartech? I had them modify my harness and re-program my computer a few years ago, and John was always VERY helpful about my swap, even for issues not directly related with electronics.

If you have brake lights, you already have a brake light switch.
There are 2 styles, NO and one that's NO and NC used with cruise control.

The only thing the brake light switch does besides the brake lights is open the circuit for the lock up torque converter. So the switch needs four places to place wires.

Two connectors that make contact when the pedal is pressed for the brake lights.

Two connectors that "open" when the brake pedal is pressed to unlock the torque converter.

Use a meter to figure which is which.

I typically use a 2000 Camaro switch.
