1997 Z28 4L60e work on 2001 5.3 Vortec?
Hey everybody, new to the forums and to LS stuff. I'm just starting a swap on my Grandfathers 86 c-10 chevy truck. He passed away in December and had given it to me. I'm going to do a Vortec 5.3 with Ls1 intake, and I just picked the motor up yesterday. There's a guy local to me that has a rebuilt 4L60e trans from his 97 Z28, and I wanted to know if it would work with the 01 Vortec motor or if the bellhousing is going to be different? I appreciate any help you can give as I've been reading and researching on here for awhile, but am not finding a clear answer.

k well the 4l60e and ls family pretty much has the same bolt pattern. the only difference is one bolt. so the 4l60e will work but need a spacer and a flywheel.
I think i have read that you can use the ls family flywheel just need to make the torque converter bolts a lil bit bigger. hope this helps

im using the same trans with a LQ9, i removed the 6.0 spacer and used a 5.3 flexplate and after searching everywhere for the correct FLexplate to bolt up (it doesnt exist yet) the guys from Hughes Performance told me to elongate the holes to allow the flywheel bolts and torque converter bolts line up.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was needing. There are a ton of 4L60e's out there, but this particular guy is only a couple of miles from me, and the trans was freshened up by a local shop less than 10,000 miles ago. They have a 24,000 mile warranty, and claim that they'll cover it even though it's changing vehicles. I'm getting into it for about $300, so I didn't see how I could go wrong if it could be made to work. I appreciate all of the help.

How would they know how many miles are on it?
