Default 79 Trans Am/ 1992 5.7 & tranny swap?

I'm clueless about where to begin with this swap. I'm a good enough mechanic to keep my vehicles maintained but I've never tackled something like this.I have a 79 T/A that originally came with an Olds 403. The engine is trash, but I have been given a 5.7 and transmission out of a 1992 Firebird. The engine has been carbed, so maybe that will simplify things a little for me. Any and all advice would be most appreciated.

Set it up just like a '79 Camaro. Junkyarding all the different parts from one would be ideal.

The '79 engine mounts are better than the early 70s ones. Used ones might be worth grabbing but on some frames are a pain to remove (buzz the bolts off w/ a grinder...)

'75-up big cap HEI dist. might be what's in the '92 already? so you're good there.

Fuel lines will be different. Swap or bend new.

The non-Vette 700-R4 has a mount on the case about .75" rearward of a TH350 mount location. Or a Caprice tailhousing puts it right at the TH400 location.

Driveshaft needs cut 2.92" if you have a TH350 now.

Wiring to the dist. should be same; some Olds' used a different but similar-looking coil so be careful.

Not much to it other than "get everything from a '79 Camaro" really.
