Default Cruise Control with Drive By Wire for Swap

From looking at the wire diagrams I have found for 02-04 LQ9's with DBW, it appears that the TAC module and ECU handle the cruise control logic, and you just wire in the cruise switches to the TAC module.

Is it that simple or is there more involved?

Would love to have cruise on my swap, and leaning towards keeping the DBW setup if I can get it. If not, then I might consider swapping it out for a cable throttle body.

I agree, it really is that simple. All the functionality is built into the TAC and PCM. What you need is a set of switches: 1) A rocker-type switch that will stay on when you turn it on and stay off when you turn it off, 2) a momentary switch for resume/accelerate, and 3) a momentary switch for set/coast. These are the standard GM controls found on all of their vehicles through the 2000's and I am sure other years.

Oh year, you also need to hook up a switch to the brake pedal. The brake pedal circuit will also need a resistor - you can search the forum for more details on that. It's been a while since I wired mine, and I forget exactly where the resistor goes.

Does this mean it is even easier for gen 4 setups without TAC modules? My harness already is hooked up to the brake switch and controls brake lights, uses a 2009 E38 pcm and tcm for the LY6 and 4L80e set up.

You will want to check to make sure they are normaly open switches like GM and not normally closed. The HND-1 needs relays to reverse the functions of the switch. Here is a pretty good thread on how it's done if you need to. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=DBW+cruise

Don't think so. It's most likley going to be harder if not impossible, because the cruise functions on Gen4's like yours are run through the BCM. I've seen threads on it before but cannot find them now.

Yeah, the HND-2 is the square dash mounted box. It the one that Dakota Digital said works without mods on my setup.

Thanks for the info. I forgot about the other thread. That BCM also gave me troubles trying to start the car too.
