LSx into 1988 Caprice Wagon
I have a chance to pick up a caprice wagon very cheaply and im thinking it might be a cool lsx swap candidate. I know it has the olds 307 in there. He says it's a chevy 305, but I'm pretty sure all the wagons came with the 307. Would this project be worth it or would the swap be really difficult. If so I'll keep looking.

I was thinking 455 originally but trying to find a good 455 motor to bolt in along with finding parts and gas mileage, I'm thinking you could find a nice truck lq motor and tranny for the same cost. If I was able to get the full engine and tranny and ecu what else would I need to make the swap work? Also, would it make it easier to swap the lsx to carb and eliminate all the computers?

It really could be anything... I've seen trucks with 307's (Olds, mind you) swapped into them. I was working at a parts store at the time. The customer needed valvecover gaskets, and he just KNEW that he had a 350 in the truck. After much jaw jacking and hmmm'ing and ha'ing, I put the two next to each other and explained in slow, monosyllabic words that he did NOT have a tree-fiddy .
Lots of clues, but the easiest is that SBC's only have four valve cover bolts to a Olds' ten (or was it twelve?). Either way, it's takin a hike! Build a draggin wagon
