posting for friend, he put a 5.3L into a jeep TJ and wants to use an engine skid plate on it, but the 5.3 oil pan hangs way too low

He is looking at putting a c5 vette oil pan on it to cut off about 5 inches of depth. Can he do this? what will be needed?

Yes, you need the pan, windage tray and pickup tube - beyond that they are all interchangeable.

The exception might be the dry sump LS7 because it requires all the dry sump gear (oil pump, longer crank, external tank, etc.).

You should do a little research on here to see if there is a better pan he can use. You can do a search on here. They have a list of all factory pans and their demensions.
