Default Project: "Barter Build" (96 Silverado)

this is my bagged 96 chevy fullsize. this is my current daily driver/work/show/project truck. i bought the truck in 05 & have been building on it since. i have a ton of build pics but i'll keep them to a minimum.

i call this my "Barter Build" because a lot of the parts are from me bartering my services to other shops. 75% of the suspension parts where from bartering, bags, valves, watts link, & soon to have flat plate upper & lower control arms.
paint job was from trading a friend of mine some signs for his body shop & now most the parts to do my LS1 swap i'm getting from trade, hence the name "Barter Build"

enough talk & on with the pics.

day i bought it, 5/7 drop, previously bagged on 18's

swapped wheels & front cap with a truck i had just finished building

set it up for 20's

now for the swap. i bought a 95 mustang GT a guy was doing a swap in. it had an AJE tubular front end & all the mounts for the LS1. the LS1 was out an 02 Camaro with 45k.
i pulled the motor, trans, harness, & ECU & sold the mustang for almost what i paid for the whole thing.

fabbed a bracket to mount my ECU, this is just a prototype.

Multi position motor mount adapters from Wisner Machine Works

ported, polished, & powder coated by 408trans_am on here.

& my latest part to arrive is my harness from Nelson Performance.

next i'll be ordering my headers, getting them coated, a few other sensors & nik-naks, & some cooler weather & i'll be ready to do the swap. since it's my daily i'm hoping to do it in a weekend, key word is "hoping".
i'll be updating & taking pics as i go along, hopefully in the next month or 2.

Good work, looks like you are close to done. Definitely not my cup of tea but you didn't ask for opinions and it's yours.

my swap is officially underway. had a guy make me an offer for my vortec that i couldn't pass up, & with the thanksgiving holiday week(don't have to bring my daughter to/from school) figured it was time, LOL!!!
started pulling everything yesterday.

the guy is buying the motor, harness & ECU.. after pulling everything i realized i will still need the fuse center & plug that goes to the firewall so he's bring me his so i don't have to cut the harness for his direct swap.

yanked it out this morning.

& had to test fit the LS.

trying to get as much done this week. have to bring the headers to get ceramic coated, send my injectors off the get bench cleaned & flow tested, change the oil, trans service, plugs & thermostat.
then try to get the intake smoothed & painted, finish up my inner fenders & get the fenders & underside my hood ready for paint.
all before next monday!!!!! i don't think i'm going to make it but i'm going to try my best.
