BMW e39 540i LQ4/T56 swap project

There could be room, but fitting headers would be very tricky if the engine mount didn't go the way it does.
What does yours look like? This pic should give you a good idea. I'll take a few tonight.
Where is the center of your shifter?

Awesome build. Should be a blast to drive around.
Are the 243's milled or untouched? And are you gonna dyno tune it or take it to the track any?
Just curious Im workin on a budget lq4 setup and came across this.

Sounds much quieter now, here's what I came up with for a homebrewed exhaust. Taken from my old project + a few more bends and some extra 3" pipe I had leftover.
Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it works
Here's another boring video
Is it throttle cracker, throttle follower, decay, or something else that's causing the revs to fall back down so slowly on this? I worked on the old swap chassis for several months trying to work on VE, I haven't done much of anything else.

This is awesome. I just bought my 01 530i this last March, since then I've wanted to do a LSx swap on another one of these. How much did your kit cost and does it fit 6 cyl's? I know they have aluminum front cross members and racks not steering boxes as on the 540's.

It will be taking it's maiden voyage today!
It was right around $1800 and included headers, trans crossmember, engine mounts, shifter handle and included modifying a GTO oil pan I provided. Getting the project driveable within 3 months over a busy summer was worth every dime!
It does not fit 6 cyl cars.

Very, very nice. Congrats. I honestly think that these will be the next big swap craze. They have great balance, prices dropping from age yet being kept clean from picky owners, and offer great daily driver versatility.
Keep us posted on any and all updates.
and here is the link over to my picture thread on the bimmerforums for trip back with my 530i. Scroll down, the first few got deleted.

Like the 530! Looks clean!!!
Now that mine is a driver project, I'd like to keep going with fixing it up... refinish headlights, fix a few small things in interior, rebuild suspension, etc.
This project isn't done, but it runs and drives. All I can say is holy ****! What a ride.
Traction is better than I expected (better than the same engine and trans in a '68 Chevy C10 picup with a LSD rear anyway...)
