Default History will show that Mustangs had an LS1 option.

When archeologist dig up our remains and try to piece to together automotive history, I think they will come to the conclusion the the LS motor was a factory option in the Ford Mustang.

Might lend credence to supporters of punctuated equilibrium.

They will probably also decide.....for some strange reason, Ford decided to stay with the carburetor on this option.

Don't forget that almost all 32 Fords had the small block Chevy option, except the ones that had the optional Hemi.

You guys are funny!! I guess I fall in that pocket with my Thunderbird - but without the optional carb.

I wonder how many old muscle cars will be fuel injected and some archeologist digs it up, runs the VIN or build plate and says "I didn't realize they were so advanced in 1969... what happened to cause these people to fall?"

Thats funny. I am an older guy, that grew up in a suburb of Detroit. I owned all Ford muscle cars in the 70's('70 Mustang SportRoof, '68 Cougar GT, etc.) & am very familiar with all the Ford 427 side-oiler motors. This is what initially attracted me to LS1 engines, that they are VERY similar in basic design, to the infamous 427 Ford NASCAR engines that FORD created in the MID 60's! Hard to believe. The LS1 block is a cross-bolt main, cathedral intake port, equal spaced exhaust port, hollow stainless/sodium filled valved, quench combustion chambered, multi intake manifold screamer, JUST LIKE the Ford 427 motors. AND...they are ALL ALUMINUM!. Too cool.

I think what history is going to show is that LSx engines were found spread throughout the land without explanation. I doubt the Mustangs they reside in are going to last long enough to be recognizable.

Count me in this corner also. I'm getting a little tired of seeing 1/2 page political ads in guys sigs. I thought this forum was for automotive stuff.
