You guys are funny!! I guess I fall in that pocket with my Thunderbird - but without the optional carb.
I wonder how many old muscle cars will be fuel injected and some archeologist digs it up, runs the VIN or build plate and says "I didn't realize they were so advanced in 1969... what happened to cause these people to fall?"

I think they will come to the conclusion the the LS motor was a factory option in the Ford Mustang.
And just about every other car...
There's definitely going to be some nice barn finds.

Thats funny. I am an older guy, that grew up in a suburb of Detroit. I owned all Ford muscle cars in the 70's('70 Mustang SportRoof, '68 Cougar GT, etc.) & am very familiar with all the Ford 427 side-oiler motors. This is what initially attracted me to LS1 engines, that they are VERY similar in basic design, to the infamous 427 Ford NASCAR engines that FORD created in the MID 60's! Hard to believe. The LS1 block is a cross-bolt main, cathedral intake port, equal spaced exhaust port, hollow stainless/sodium filled valved, quench combustion chambered, multi intake manifold screamer, JUST LIKE the Ford 427 motors. AND...they are ALL ALUMINUM!. Too cool.
