Do you have any good resources/links for whats involved and which parts to use... pedals, crossmember, etc?
Here's a great link for you http://www.shiftn6.com/6gearg.html

Thanks and sounds good! Saving for a T56 right now. Hopefully put a big dent in the whole project this spring.

Instead of using the GMPP swap pan (hummer pan), go with a caddilac ctsv oil pan as it sits within 1/2 in flush of k member in a g body. All you need is the pan and pickup tube as it can retain the truck dipstick, dipstick tube and windage tray

As for the f body headers, thats what I ran also in my malibu. They will only work if you use 1in setback plates and even then you will either need to clearence the frame or dent the tube pretty heavily. Mine were pacesetter brand

Slow progress but, progress nonetheless. Built the engine stand I just ordered and got the LY6 up off the floor to prepare for the oil pan. Thinking about ordering a pickup tube girdle? (keeping the VVT) Still trying to decide on cam?

Minor setback or step in the right direction? Ordered up my 4L80e from a junkyard based on an '08 2500HD forgetting that 6l90e's (edit 6/12/12 from 6L80e. Found out it was a 6L90e.) were also an option in the 2500HD's. Should have double checked with them. Oh well, better MPG's I suppose. It's a beast. If I keep it I'll probably have to do some cutting. this is what showed up......

At least you got the right version of the 6L80E. I imagine you will have to modify your transmission hump to make enough room.

Nice score! If it was me I would have wanted a 6L80E and gotten a 4L80E.

I would keep it and fire up the fabrication tools, that baby will need some room.

I think that 6L80E requires a second computer to operate it.

From what Iv'e heard the 6L80e TCM is just inside the pan? Speartech said it should work okay but, I'll need to pull it and send along with the harness and ECM. I should have some updates soon. I'm pulling the old engine and trans tonight. I'll try and get some pics to go with it.

Trans was roughly $1000 shipped. Found it through car-part.com. I have it in my possession so I might as well make it work. Floors are pretty crunchy so I needed to do some cutting anyway.

Yes the TCM is in the 6L80E. It in turn is controlled by the E38 ECM. From what I understand you can make the changes in the E38 ECM that will affect the 6L80E. You don't need to send off the TCM from the 6L80E just the E38 to be re-programmed. Let us know what you find out.

Edit to a couple posts in this thread as I just had confirmed what I thought was a 6L80e is actually a 6L90e. Story goes I ordered a 4L80e from a junkyard to receiving what I though was a 6L80e, only to find out it was a 6L90e.

Confirmed through another member who was kind enough to decode the sticker on the side of the trans...

All that means is when it breaks it will be expensive.. Lol..

I would run an 4L80E if it was me.
