4.8 Manual trans flywheel confusion
Need some help. I'm using a 2002 4.8 w/ BW super T10 4 speed in a 61 Corvette, but having trouble figuring out the flywheel. All sourses say to use Chevy truck 12" flywheel. I have found used flywheels 1999-2000 for $159 and 2001-2006 for $239, what the heck is the difference? I was told to steer away from the Z28/ Corvette flywheel which I can buy new at Summit for $89. Any thoughts. Much thanks, Keith Z

I think I got it
Gary; I called the yard I purchased the 4.8 from and confirmed that it was a 2001, there must be a difference in the crankshaft??? But there is a difference between 99/2000 and 2001/later, I called O'Rielly's for the Sachs NFW1050 fly wheeel (2001-2005 4.8). Online they show $55.99. I'm going to buy 2! I have a 55 Chevy PU with a 4BT Cummins in it. I plan on pulling it out and grabbing a 5.3 to hook up to the T5. There is no way you can seal the smell of a diesel out of a 50s vehicle! It was a good experiment, but I'm going back to gas. The 4.8 is going into my 61 Corvette. You guys have given me some terriffic info. I really hate doing things twice!
