Default Project Ugly Betty LQ4 with a 4L60E into a 1966 Mustang

Fist off I want to thank LS1Tech for a forum that is a wealth of knowledge. I have been lurking on here for a while gathering info and parts before I started my swap and now that I started I figured it was time to start a thread. I would also like to thank some members specifically for there contributions “frojoe, C6 MAXX, S10xGN, Irish350, JSeely, and the Guys from Alabama at this years LS Fest”, you know who you are, I’m still waiting for my Yard Sale RADAR GUN. Also the vendors at LS Fest who spent their time with me answering questions and sharing advice (Texas Speed, Kwik, Lightnin Rodz), I’m sure there are more so thanks everyone: The Car was named Ugly Betty and is a dream come true.

Specifics: Car
1966 Mustang originally 289
TCI front suspension conversion with 12” Wilwood brakes, Coil over shocks and Rack n Pinion Steering.
Engine
LQ4 from a 2002 Denali
4L60E from local trans builder
Stock truck intake and accessory drive

Want list: Tanks Inc fuel pump
Headers 2002 F Body maybe
Trans cross member from Tran Dapt
Making my own motor mounts?
373 Explorer Rear with modified axel tube to center the pumpkin
Torque Thrust rims
Cal trax
Texas speed cam kit
NOS 125 Shot

I will be posting picts and I am putting together a Build Sheet to share.

Looks like a really solid car. It will be a winner when it's done. Some blue oval boys aren't going to be happy about this one.

Does the TCI mod let you keep the rear sump?

I have a similar '66 project but going with a gen I sbc and a Pete and Jakes tube front axle.

Thanks jakeb still working on the picts

Kpeterson Thanks for the compliment yes its rear sump due to the PS Rack location. Car is a Cali Car that was restored in the 80s beefore it came to MI. It has never been driven in the snow. As far as the Blue Oval goes I bleed blue blood but I am man enough to admit a winner when I see one and the LS1 is a winner IMHO. At least this forum is supportive and Im hoping to have it done for LS Fest next year.

I love it, the engine is painted Ford blue. I to am/was a Ford guy, but the LSx Chevy is kick butt. (until the Coyote engines come down in price) my Mustang will stay Chevy powered.

Zipster: Thanks have had alot of comments on the engine color choice. After this one I have plans on putting another LQ4 in my F150. Your right Coyote engines are pricey.

Don G : I have seen video of this car on aroad course and I would love any pointers that will help. Thanks

Can't believe how much this opens up the engine bay.

Doug you are right! The same kit. I couldn't afford all of the upgrades that he used on the cougar but I upgraded the shocks and brakes. Getting ready to start grinding some more.

Looks like your kit goes in the same as the RCM kit. Now that you can add pix to your threads, another 'tip', you can add as many as you want in one thread (by linking to an outside host like you're doing). If you upload your pix here, you are limited to 5 per thread...

Depends on what harness your running. I like the 06 style it has only one connector and slide locks.
