Default LS1 Swap into 67 fairlane

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone!
I was wondering if anyone has put a LS1 engine and manual 6 speed transmission into a 1967 ford fairlane 2 door hardtop? If so can you please tell me what part (numbers) are needed as far as the engine mounts/transmission mount and any other particulars involved with this project. I will be getting the engine/trans/wiring/ecm all together as a purchase buy. Is it ok to run a frame mounted electric fuel pump?

Will the engine fit ok in the engine bay or would I have to alter the shock towers? Any help in advance will be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your time

Default 67 Fairlane ls swap completed?

I'm currently looking at my grandpas 1 owner 67 Fairlane 500 wondering if I should put the unknown condition 86 5.0L with AOD or the known good running 01 5.3L with 4L60E in it. I'm not a Ford guy and I love the LS engines.

Brady - I think you already know the answer. Not only is the 5.3L a MUCH better "mouse trap", the 86 5.0L is not the one you'd want to go with in any event - E6 heads, problems with P to V clearance when modded, etc.

marors - google search turns up lots of 67 Mustangs with LS power -- if it'll go in those, it oughta go in the Fairlane without much drama. You're likely on your own from fabricating mounts, etc.

The biggest issue with that Fairlane is the shock towers are very close together, restricting headers and the engine sits way too far forward to ever be a decent handling car. So, if you don't mind exh. manifolds, go for it or, chop up the core support do a Mustang II clip.

It came OEM with an FE 390 - the LS is smaller than that. Not saying removing the towers and going with a different suspension isn't a good idea or won't create lots more room. Just saying if they go into 65-68 Stangs, they'll go in the Fairlane. Getting rid of the factory steering box in favor of rack and pinion is another big improvement.

Here is an option I am considering.

My biddy did a 66 and they replaced the front end with a MII front. He made custom engine mounts.
