Default LSX --> Fox Mustang Exhaust?

Hey All,

Searched for a bit but couldn't find anything definitive.

Re: LSX swap into Fox body mustang...

Does anyone make an x-pipe or cat back for use with the Dynatech swap headers?

My goal is to run dual 3" exhaust with an x pipe and tailpipes out the back, but I've been told that 3" pipes won't clear over the axle...

Does anyone have input on this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't see off the shelf stuff working with a 10" wheel or with a 275 DR.

Hmmm... so is everyone just running dumps before the axles? Or custom 3" tailpipes? Or just going with 2.5" tailpipes?

Good to know. What brand are the tail pipes? I've seen a bunch of poor fitting cat backs over the years!

Bumping my old thread here...

Is there an x-pipe that people are using for the ls1 swap into the Fox mustang?

I know Jegs and a few other companies make a generic 3" x-pipe... Are you guys just using those?

i used a generic x-pipe kit, offset inlet/outlet dynomax ultraflo mufflers and flowmaster tailpipes. i will say i prefer the 2.5 LX style tails to the 3inch because of the way the 3inch tails are routed - the 2.5's look cleaner IMO.

A h-pipe will be faster than a summit or jegs x-pipe. On my car it was .10 quicker with the h

I have a MAC 3" Catback off a 98 Cobra on my 93. It fit ok. I also have a 3" X-pipe from when the car had longtubes with the little 302 that it had. I have not made it to the engine mockup stage yet, but I am planning on using the same headers that I had with the SBF with some tweaking and LS flanges.

isnt the exhaust on your car aluminum? is this compared to a steel system with an x-pipe? i know you're a very thorough dude and keep track of everything. ive never actually compared an H to an X pipe so im curious because .10 is alot to gain

I am in the process of doing the ls swap right now and my dynatech headers will be here on thurs. So im looking to see how other people finished the exhaust. I would like tail pipes but i have 15x10 with 6.5 bs and anti-roll bar so i heard you can't have tails with that setup. The motor shop i had the motor build by said i have to have 3 inch pipes
