It's a 51 Chevy Pickup on an S10 frame, has a 5.3L from an 06 Yukon with the 4l60E and the drive by wire. For vehicle wiring I'm using an American Autowire classic update series, for engine wiring I'm using Howell EFI standalone harness. The cruise control switch is from Dakota Digital HND-2.

So is your brake booster and brake light switch below the floor? Is that the reason you don't just use a 4 prong brake switch?

This should work. Then hook up the switch like you posted in post 10, with maybe the exception of the red wire to the brake switch, you shouldn't need that one.

One other thing, you don't have LED taillights do you?

Ok, nevermind about the LEDs, you should be good to go with the relay in there. If you hook it up like in my drawing it should be fine.

That looks like it should work, but I don't think you need the brake light wire out of the HND-2 going to the relay. You should only need to power the switch with an ignition wire. That switch is made for an aftermarket cruise control so I believe that's why they have that brake wire in the switch, but with a GM DBW system the brake switches are on the TAC and PCM and not the switch.

ls1nova71 - I completed the wiring as you suggested and everything works perfectly. I was missing the pin 6 connection. Thank you for taking on my issue. I plan on driving to MN for the Back to the 50's in June, if you go call me at 248-412-3888 I owe you a beer.

For anyone interested I updated the diagram.

Cool, glad you got it working, and thanks for following up and letting us know, too many times people get them going and then drop off the planet so you never know if it worked or not. As for the Back to the 50's, I probably wont be going. I went this year for the first time and it was a big show, but wasn't my favorite. I'm most likely going to the Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals next June instead, but appreciate the offer.

Default dakota digital cruise control

hey ls1nova71 I have drive by wire from a 2007 Corvette and it doesn't have a TAC module, any idea if this would work with my setup or do I need to buy the Dakota Digital CRC-1000 so I could have cruise control on my car. Thanks for any input.

Very interesting thread, I am wondering if the wiring for the hnd 2 is the same as the hnd 1 from Dakota digital? If it is I'm good to go!
I have one more question I am using a 5.3 from a 2004 gm pickup and using a Dakota digital gauges and trying to figure out how to hook up the cruise control activate in the dash. It takes a negative signal to turn on the light in the instrument cluster. I am lost as how to do that, any info would be greatly appreciated.
I know its a few years. :-)

Thanks so much Pat.

The HND1 and HND2 are the opposite of each other. With the HND1 you will need to use relays to reverse the switches in it to normally open rather than the normally closed that they are.

As for the cruise on indicator on your DD dash, you can't really get it to work with a DBW system. The DBC module has a dedicated ground out that activates whenever the cruise is set, which is how i have mine hooked up, but theres no such wire on a DBW. The best you could do is wire in a relay to turn the power to a ground and hook it up so that the indicator comes on whenever the ON/OFF switch is set to ON, but thats kind of pointless in my opinion.

Dakota has a module w/ the indicator circuit (crc-2000). Im using that with the HND-1 and my LED (green) in the speedo that was originally for the signal for the CC indicator. I swapped the other green LED to clear red for my car alarm.

Thanks for the info. I have looked over DD website lots and never noticed that they made a kit for the cruse control for the LS. I bet that is a sweet setup.

Thanks again. Pat.

Yes, they have one just for DBW LS engines. I like it a lot. Its P&P, just unplug your gas pedal and the CRC plugs in-between the two.
For clarification: the HND1 doesnt look like the GM part in the pic, thats my doing.
