Any interest in me paying you to do mine?

Default shaved intake

Not to bring up the dead, but I thought I would share my finished intake.

I can't find my during pics but I used SEM 39767 Problem Plastic Repair Material with a dual mix cartridge and reinforcement tape followed by duraglass to smooth it out. I read previous post about nothing sticking to nylon so I tried to pry it off at the edge and I couldn't get it to budge. I'm going to watch it and monitor my trims and afrs once i get my 5.3 in my wagon. I do still have to install some fittings for the booster, map, and reg.

Wow, looks great. I'm doing one right now and I just used a dremmel to knock down the big stuff and a regular metal hand file to smooth out the rough spots and it brought it to a pretty good starting point to straighten things out pretty fast. Made a huge mess of little bits of black shavings everywhere though. ha ha.

Yeah, I used a wiz wheel and flung plastic globs all over. Burns good when it hits your arms. Can't get the plastic off the blade after. Everybody else said it doesn't take that long but it did take me some time to get it the way i wanted mine. Post pics when your'e done.

That looks awesome. Great job. I finally finished mine. I will post some pics. I had too laugh when you said the plastic was burning your arm. I also had the same problem.

I was wondering the same thing, the stock truck rails look like crap with those nice smoothed and painted truck intakes.

I have a spare sitting here. It's bare, no brackets, injectors, etc... If interested let me know.

Norm, looks pretty good, thanks for posting it.It is possible to get materials to stick to difficult plastics using proper methods,as I learned fitting my 2010 camaro nose to an el camino. Since an intake doesn't noticeably flex like a plastic bumper,it should hold out well. You'll most likely eventually see some ghost shadowing in the repairs after time, but they'll be more obvious to you than anyone else & if needed, a future light sanding /respraying would probably easily restore the repairs.

I just got a 3 piece engine cover off a 6.0 GMC to hide the truck intake if I decide to put it on instead of the LS1 intake. But now I'm thinking of starting over the smoothed intake project again.

Not even that for me, I can't / don't want to use the stockers. I'm going with an aftermarket fuel system and need a set of rails.

I finally found the time too post my intake. Here are some pics of it during the smoothing process. I also didnt want to run the stock rails so i made some at my shop. My next step is to get them anodized and then mount everything on my truck.

Im currently smoothing and filling in a TBSS intake which has a 90mm TB opening. It's also going to get powdercoated once I get it all smoothe and nice looking. I started on it today and that plastic does burn when it hits your arm or finger tips! LOL Ill post pics when Im done. Whats the best thing to use to fill holes and smoothe it out besides fiberglass or bondo?
