lsx swap 1979 Scottsdale
well my dad has had this truck for prob. going on 10 years now and it has had the same 350/th350 conbo in it since he bought the truck.. he mostly uses it as a hunting truck/hauling truck..the truck is getting ALOT of body work done to it and will be restored to good condition ( still gonna be used as a hunting truck ) he asked me to do him a favor and build him a ls engine since i have had so much success with my ls2.. so here is the build...
the truck
scored a iron block 6.0 from a friend for basically free
gonna be using a stock rotating assembly from a L92
tbss intake
2006 4x4 4L80e
also have some arp bolts, slp double roller, all i really lack is a cam, lifters, valvesprings, gaskets, rings and bearings and it will be ready for assembly.

yeah.. mostly im hoping to get better gas mileage than the stock 350 and th350 transmission that was in it... 6-7 mpg AINT cutting it anymore, even at 12-13 mpg thats double what it was so im hoping for the best. Me and my tuner agree that it should make around 350 at the tire with these mods through the drivetrain
motor is out and should be taking the block and rotating assembly to the machine shop soon

its almost like you are reading my mind as i'm planning out my build.....
i've been looking for a 73-87 2wd rcsb to drop an ls into for a dd(time to retire the el camino). i had a 79 Bonanza 10 for a first vehicle, dad bought it new, and i restored it when i was in college, wish i still had it. it would do 12-14mpg with a tailwind...haha, damn 203 full-time transfer case.
i'll be keeping an eye on this one....you'll have a whole fleet here before too long, especially when you get the s10 swapped.

hop on over to ck5.com for lots of pics and info on swapin these ls series to 73-87 trucks.
we even had a site member lend his ls swap 4x4 truck to doug thorley headers and used to make a set of headers for a new production set thay are making. have to call them as not on web site yet.
otherwise thay drop in super easy to the trucks.
and dont forget with 4l80-e you will need diffrent transfer case as old th350 was 27 spline output and new 4l80-e shares the old th400 32 spline output. adaptor also diffrent to match. there is a huge thread in the garage section over at ck5 on 4l80 to tcase options and info.
any question just ask me .

that brings back memories, my first "car" was a 79 chevy pickup with the same 2-tone blue as on the cab. Did my first motor swap on that truck too! thanks for sharing the build.
