Default Grand prix LS1 build

I finally test fitted my ls1 on my 85 GP... I used the Transdapt 4595 1in setback plates after grinding on them a bit, ground down a couple bolts that were hitting the webbing on the block and bolted in the factory clamshells.. Only issue i still have is the alternator not fitting in but i'm going to install the hood and see what clearance i have. If good then i'm ordering the speedway high mount alt kit, some other alternative.. Anyways here are some pics

Test fitted some f body cats factory, drivers side seems to fit good BUT passenger side hits the floorboard... haven't installed the trans yet which could affect the clearance, i found out by googling up the numbers it is actually a 4L65E. Guy i bought it from said it was a 4l60, According to the numbers, it's a 2004 4L65E from a 4x4. He included a 2wd tailshaft housing and a dipstick. Also he rebuilt it with a "power pack clutches, beast sunshell, Corvette servo and a 2k stall converter.... What mods would have to be done to the stock 99 LS1 computer to run this trans? It originally came with a auto trans. Also found a T56 from a 01 Camaro for 1K, Would it be better to pick it up instead? I really would love to row my own gears But i would have to find that $$ somewhere...

Cool

VERY cool build!! I've actually thought about doing one of these, it's going to be interesting to see how this one comes together!

Looking good. I appreciate your documentation since my 87 will go LS / Auto some day.

What oil pan is on the engine and how much distance is there up to the engine cradle crossmember? I want to test fit a batwing for some reason.

I used the CTS-V oil pan, as for the clearance between the oil pan and crossmember it's pretty good and it doesn't hang too low from the cradle. I have about at least 1/2in around the oil pan sump.

Also here are a few more pics of the high mount alt kit form Speedway,

The alt fits good now but the "cooling duct" hits the plug wire and the sensor harness is too close as well... I was told to get a truck alt and that would solve that issue. Gonna test one out and see. Gonna notch my heater box soon for the passenger side coil packs next....any ideas??

I have a truck alternator that you can use for test-fitting, should save you the hassle of buying one. Besides, it makes for a good excuse to meet each other & have a beer...
