Default 1998 LS1 Longblock + 99-02 harness/ECU

First and foremost I would like the state that I have searched and researched prior to making this post but the answers are somewhat contradictory. I would just like confirmation.

I am installing a 1998 Corvette LS1 in a 1988 BMW E30 M3. I purchased the motor without the harness or ecu. From the research I have done it seems that I can use a 99-02 harness and ECU but will have issues with the temp sensor and EGR (which can be addressed via tuning). For the moment I am more concerned with just getting the motor running. I will be buying a "plug and play" harness from "currentperformance.com" and an ECU locally. Thank you.

All you will need to make sure of is that you use 99+ temp and oil pressure sensors. Everything else works, I'm doing the opposite right now (99+ motor w/ 98 harness)

Actually if you cut off the temp sensor connector and put on the 3 wire connector for the 98 sensor you can use the 3rd wire to run a temp gauge in the dash.
