I'd be interested in figuring out wiring and gauge issues.

Depending on the year, it can be easy or slightly difficult. The older Vic's all still have hardwired gauge clusters with each insturment having it's own dedicated sending unit. Speedo runs off of an Analog VSS signal, so that's easy too. The LS pcm puts out a digital signal on the VSS pin, so you just use a Dakota Digital SGI-5 converter box to make the two interface. Have used that box a few times on swaps, works great and is cheap.

It gets more complicated when they switched body styles in the late 90's. All the data is then shared over the network and all the engine sensors feed the PCM, which then shares that data over the network to the cluster.

Although i've not tried this method, it has been mentioned that you could leave the stock Ford ECU in place, and powered up. Then, use the Ford senders on the LS motor like you would do on an oder Vic. This way the Ford ECU keeps the cluster happy by sending the insturment data to the cluster. Odometer and other functions should be maintained as well this way, however you'd have to find a workaround for the MIL and some other issues i'm sure, but it's doable.

Well as you can predict from my picture I have the newest body a 2004 Vic and the second ECU sounds like it'd be the way to go

I'll get some pics up once I get it fabbed. It's actually planning out pretty simple on paper. There is a company that makes fittings for the truck Denso A/C Compressor to Tube/Oring style screw on fittings. From there you just get some normal A/C hose by the foot, get your lengths right, then buy the Hose to Ford Pushlock fittings and that's it. Most any place that sells Hydraulic hose can crimp the ends for you, and even some of them can get the A/C fittings/hose.

The electrical side is a little more tricky depending on which year of PCM you use as they went from a hardwired input to the PCM for A/C request to a network request in '03. On one of my other builds we had to do a pretty elaborate work around for the network issue, but functions normally now.

It's SCARY how freakishly at home this is looking:

Got some wiring, ac hoses, master cylinder wrap, turbo air filter and a few othe small things left, but should be running by end of month.

That is going to be one hell of a sleeper. Can't wait to see it running and driving.

Thanks! Im sure trying to keep everything functional as I can and as close to stock as possible. The A/C stuff is all there, less the lines to connect it. Cruise control hooked up, stock shifter functional less there are 2 gears between 2nd and 1st on the indicator because the Ford indicator does not have a 3rd number.

Here's a little video tour of the progress:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHznW...ature=youtu.be

I don't expect her to play much lower than the 11's to be honest, but I could be suprised. I only plan on 15psi on the stock 6.0L. My 5.3L made 550 RWHP on 10psi with a stupid safe tune, however this pig should come in around 4200lbs with a driver.

All in good fun, it should suprise a few lightly modded Camaro's and Mustangs.

Would the Ford ECU require any kind of crank / cam input to be able to provide data to the cluster?

Being told by a local LSx swap shop that without that crank / cam input, the Ford ECU won't output anything useful - ie, it won't read the voltage fluctuations off the sensors mounted in the LS motor and output those to the cluster.

Thoughts?

Would have never guessed a Crown Vic or Marauder weighed so much.

Gotta be a reason LEOs love them so much. They're built like tanks.
