Question ls engine time/A-body

Well, my 71 monte carlo is ready for a swap cuz the 350 in it now is the original motor & its time to upgrade. here are my options: 8.1 496 from a 02 suburban for 2400, ls1 vette engine with about the same amount of miles for 2500, lq4 for about 2 grand, or a 5.3 for 1500, trailblazer ss engine for 1k. all of these engines will be complete, all have about the same miles on them, ecm reprogrammed in advance with the exception of the trailblazer motor, all proven and tested that they run. advice and input is needed.

I would skip the 8.1,more parts, potential and support for the LSx motors.Your best choice is the all aluminum vette LS1,especially if it comes with all the front drive accessories and manifolds, likely the easiest to fit under the hood,I know there is plenty of space in front of the engine in these cars.

this is true, plenty of room up front. though all i would need is the alternator to clear the hood cuz i'm definitely going to go with the car intake. I would like to take the least expensive route, which for me would be the 5.3. the trailblazer eng. may not be an option cuz its from a truck i never heard run, but i had to throw that out there cuz it still might be a bargain. @ 1500 the 5.3 would be a good one to go with cuz this would just include me getting a trans and plugging everything up and fabin trans tunnel or crossmember if needed. it would already be complete, ecm reprogrammed, manifolds, everything needed to run.

Boy this thread got hijacked.
The Chevelle and montes have interchangeable glass, and rear deck lids. I always thought they were a-body cars, until like late 70's.
The trail blazer ss engine would be the one I'd go with, assuming you can hear it run.

i'm probably not gonna go with the trailblazer motor. I spoke with the owner of that engine and he was kinda rude, I explained to him that since he took the motor out already i wasn't gonna get it unless i have a mechanic take a look @ it. He got upset & said well don't call back unless ur ready, huh i found a complete vette engine for 2 grand so as soon as i get in touch with the seller i'll check that out. if all else fails i'll get the merkur with the camaro motor in it. its only 2700 and its a whole car so i can use just about everything from the fuel system on up. just didnt want my alternator @ the bottom of the motor. btw they classify it as a g body but it'll always be referred to as a body by car guys

i would appreciate it. i've been looking at every1's build and though the 5.3 would be cheaper to start, i'm convinced i'll spend more at the end (intake, etc). i think getting the car motor would be a little more but i wouldnt have to change anything as far as the engine. 5.3 with harness and ecm flashed 1500 but a 500 shipping charge.01 vette motor with cpu and harness 2k plus 300 shipping that'll need flashing and harness work. full car with camaro motor and trans 2700 that i could probably just take out and slide into my monte with some fabrications. ur opinion please. i would like to keep this build within 3500

Merkur all running is a deal. Then sell it for parts. Even scrap car with no motor/ tranny is worth 300$ +.
