Default 1951 Chevy Truck 04 LS1 TR6060 trans

Well I have an 1951 Chevy 5 window pickup truck. I installed a heitz mustang two from suspension with 4 piston disc brakes. I have the cab off and am trying to install the engine and trans. I picked up a TR6060 from a 2011 Camaro SS, what does everyone know about this trans? Also installed a different oil pan to clear the front cross member. I need an intake thinking LS6 right away. I want to install AC on this truck but not sure what to do with the accessories clearance wise. I know that Kwik performance makes a great kit that would work but it is over $600 for just the brackets. Anyone install an LS engine in a 47-53 chevy truck with AC and power steering? Any pictures would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Default Welcome!

Welcome to LS1Tech! You are right up the road from me here in Oshkosh. There are a number of guys dropping LS engines into chevy trucks from that generation. Not sure about the A/C and PS though, do some searching and you will find them. Also be sure to check performance trucks website, I have seen some LS swaps over there as well. Get some pics up so we can see this thing!

I have a '49 GMC with 5.3l, 4l60e, MII front suspension, Ford 8.8 rear, with power steering and A/C.

e-mail me at txreid42@verizon.net and I'll help you if I can.

Welcome. Sounds like a kool build.
The trans is a little different. You should start thinking about your drive shaft. With no slip yoke you have to handle the rear suspension movement. Some are doing a conversion over to a standard slip yoke main shaft. This guy wrote the book on it. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...body-pics.html
I am using it in a Corvette, with IRS not so much a problem.

The stock shifter will probably not work for you. I kind of cobbled one together to match f body T56 location. With your truck you can probably use the forward location and McLeod makes one. Check it out here.

Here is a discussion - toward the end - on drive shafts. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...-v-t-56-a.html

Yeah I figure on using a different shifter on this teams and I know I need to get a slip shaft drive shaft to work with this trans.
