Turns out after a teardown of my "LQ9" from the Escalade.. It is actually a fresh rebuilt LQ4 (which correct me if I am wrong but that is the wrong engine for an Escalade).. Anyway seems that those tags on the back of the heads were referring to the whole engine being a reman..

I have it torn down as far as I plan to.. and will be reinstalling my ZR1 gaskets and ARP bolts and hope to have it back in the car by wednesday so I can get my AC hoses made at the local AC shop.. Which is funny since it's winter...

Also.. Happy Veterans Day to those who have served and are currently serving in our Military..

Has anyone ever measured the difference between a "ported" oil pump and a standard LQ4 pump.. I pulled my newish LQ4 pump off and there is a minimal amount of material there that can be removed.. Does anyone feel that it is even worth the effort.. ?

You tha man John B... Thanks for that.. I really think that a matching set of 315s is in my future for the rear..

Should have the engine back in the car this weekend.. Then it's off to the local AC shop to have my custom refrigeration hoses made..

Going to be a while before I can post up any updates.. In Charleston SC for work this week.. then going back home to Illinois for the thanksgiving week to spend time with family.. Going to be fun but no work on the car during those times..

Perhaps I will get it on the road again before the snow melts off next year..

Still waiting to put the LQ back in the meano.. Should only take a couple hours but with wife and baby and house taking up most of my time I just don't have time to do what i need..

Recently had a water heater start leaking secretly and I didn't notice it until the floor was completely soaked.. Had to cut out all the underlayment and vinyl and everything out and replace it all.. I also went ahead and hid the water lines in the walls this also prompted me to finish installing all new baseboards and finish painting the laundry room.. Snowball effect to the MAX... Well.. Should be taking tomorrow afternoon off to work on the car.. going to get it in.. mock up AC hoses.. get those made and finish install.. then it's off to the dyno.

Im sure everyone already knew this lol.. but I just realized half way into installing the heads on this new engine that it is an 04 and uses different head bolts than my original 06... So I had to order a new set that will be here Tuesday... Just one more setback but this allows me to weld a -6 fitting on the back of my PS pump.. the silly hose clamped return line was driving me nuts.. just didnt look clean..

also going to redo my Oil Cooler lines using the set that came off the new engine.. The old one leaks where they crimp to the aluminum block..

Sorry to hear about the head bolts. By they way, where did you end up mounting the oil cooler?

Did you have to cut the tunnel for the T56? Am doing the same thing to my 85 T-Type too. Can you post some close up pics of the cut up tunnel ?

Thx

I bought a Cooler on Amazon that had -6 fittings on it.. I then mounted it to the front of the AC Condenser.. The factory Oil Cooler Adapter and lines were cut at the crimp for the rubber portion and a -6 fitting was silver soldered on.. I then measured for hoses and had a local shop make up some lines..

I build clutch pedals for G body setups with T56/T5.. I use the stock brake pedal and modify it and make a new clutch pedal from scratch..

I did not cut my tunnel for the T56.. but I also made my own mounts that push the engine lower than any other mounts that are available.. The oil pan is a little low but I don't plan to go offroading any time soon and also plan to modify my other pan with a larger sump that fits my frame better..

It is a 22CM.. I have a 16CM housing and a 19 that I can order.. the 16 is actually a different turbo housing that I have to have modified for the larger wheels...

with the 22cm It seems to spool fine so I will just leave it..
