yet another Mustang coupe LSx swap!
This may be a little premature as I haven't got it home yet, but I am pretty excited about it. Been lurking on this site for a long time and figured I'd contribute. Although my build will be veeerrrrry slow and some will more than likely lose interest in my thread long before its done, I am going to keep it going for the duration. This build may not apply to many of you as this coupe was already a drag car that was pretty well gutted and ran 9.9x's with a turboed 408 windor and a C4, and was built and ran by a freind of mine who decided diesel pulling was more fun than wheels up launches at the strip...
what remains is all I need to get into the 9's myself(hopefully, someday). Narrowed 8.8 with lightweight spool and gears(3.55s), moser axles, mini-tubbed, Ground pounder K-member, tubed A-arms, coil overs, QA1s out back, chromoly roll cage, and lightened to the very extreme. (not sure of the race weight when he ran it), but its gotta be light. Nothing in it, although I will more than likely add a little bit of stuff to it to make it tolerable to drive to the track and around to shows.
I have a 02 LQ9 from a Escalade, and a 4L60e, thinking of going TH350 tho. I plan to go single turbo, and fab up a system myself.
This is just the beginning and I hope to do a good job on the build thread for those who are interested in keeping up. I have never done anything to this level before. mostly just cam swaps/bolt ons and a V8 S-10 swap once, like millions of other folks.
So stay tuned and I hope you enjoy it.

Sweet! Do you plan on keeping the drive by wire from the escalade? Thats a sharp car, looks to be in great shape!

Thanks. I have a LS1 intake and TB I'll be using instead of the truck intake/DBW TB. I scored what I hope to be a stand alone harness for the engine. Its a cut down factory truck harness from a guy in Cincinatti Ohio area. It is pretty solid for the most part. one patch on the driver's side floor pan.

just a quick update.. Got the LQ tore down to the shortblock. Found some water in 2 of the cylinders. Cleaned up the pistons and wiped the cylinders down real good with oil. Washed the car up too. Ordered 4.6 to LSx mounts off eBay.

Update. I'll add pics later. Got the shortblock put together. Heads are reassembled with new Comp 918s and ready to bolt on. Hopefully get engine/trans mated up and bolted in by the end of May!!!

Nice looking coupe. I gotta ask, is that front bumper cut out in the center?
Hood pins, not a fan myself...but I have had my own experience and have heard of many many others where fiberglass hoods on mustangs are flying up and smashing the windshield. So for safety, it's not a matter of want or like, it's a must.

I meant camaronuts bumper, sorry. In first pic, in the center of the bumer it is black....I recently did a few alterations to my front bumper. I put 4 2" holes where it would say mustang, and then also cut out the the bar across the top where the ford emblem would be so it is open like an sn95 bumper.

Booboo, that is a slick setup. The first cowl hood on this car did fly off at the track leaving a dent in the roof. I might have to look into a better setup like that for holding it on.

while im in here I'll update my build. I have the 6.0 cleaned, painted, and put back together. I used a comp cam 228R, 918 springs, pushrods, rebuilt the rockers using comps trunnion kit. LS2 timing chain and oil pump. I cleaned up the heads and strapped them down with eBay studs and Victor Reinz gasket kit. I had to make some spacers to get the engine to mount up to the Ground Pounder K. Engine is in, and now I'm at a standstill for a little while.
