Default 99 tahoe 4l60e

I have a problem and need help. I have a 2001 5.3l with a 99 Tahoe 4L60E transmission attached to it. I installed the flywheel spacer on the crank. I attached the torque converter and no movement. I found out that the torque converter is pulled out of the pump. Now my question is, Do I need to put the spacer before or after the flywheel? I have read several threads that show both ways. I can't seem to make heads or tails which way. I have attached the picture how mine is. Any help will be appreciated.

It depends on which flywheel you have. If the flywheel is flat the spacer goes between the crank and the flywheel (engine side). If the flywheel is dished the spacer goes between the flywheel and converter (trans side). I belive the flat flywheels were used on engines mated to the 4l80 trans while the dished were mated to the 4l60e. Either can be used as long as the spacer is on the right side.

I'm pretty sure they went to the newer body style with ls based motor/trans in 2000. and to make things more confusing, they sold both in 2000.

1999 is still sbc and the corresponding trans. The 1998 and 1999 4l60e behind the sbc has a removable bellhousing like thouse behind the gen III motors...just longer depth and input shaft.

^^Yup. That's why I'm asking about the Tahoe..if it was a 5.7 Vortec SBC, or a 5.3l.

Yup, just replaced/rebuilt the trans on my 99 Tahoe, SBC 5.7L 350 with remove able bell housing on the 4L60e.

Yes they did sell both body style in 2000, but the older GMT400 Tahoe was only marketed as a Z71 Tahoe with the SBC.
