i r teh noobz 04-21-2013 08:09 PM

Nope. I've seen a couple of Charger threads pop up but they didn't go anywhere.

chuckd71 04-21-2013 09:11 PM

BMW wagon?

Rick Speed 04-21-2013 10:48 PM

It would need all new gauges and everything because none of the electronics would work right

But that's not hot rodding and its not like gauges are that expensive. Im sure one of the wiring companies can get things figure out, in fact I know there is one that was able to get a ly6 working in a Dakota using the factory gauges so its doable and not like a magnum cant be found cheap enough to make it worth it.

audacious nick 04-22-2013 01:51 PM

I'd get a better car. Like a bmw wagon. American is crappy

Jones'n 04-22-2013 03:23 PM

That's funny, I have a friend with one in his shop right now wiring up an '08 Silverado engine and trans in to a Magnum. Will use the factory gauges as much as possible.

I'll see if I can get some pictures from him.

chuckd71 04-22-2013 04:21 PM

OP didn't say he wants a hot rodding project, he wants a magnum hemi, but it was too expensive. The cost of a new motor and trans plus the work involved would probably bring a base model to or over the magnum price.
That said, having seen the interior of the magnum they gave my dad to drive for work I'd skip it altogether and get something nicer.

First of all mopar is the most non-aftermarket friendly mfg out there. My buddy does glass installs, had to remove seats and door panel after a break in. Car would not start and had to be towed to a dealer and reprogrammed just to start the dumb thing. You cant put a cam in them cause there only a couple guys who can tune the factory PCM. Big heavy turds just like their 60's ancestors.

ZQV8 04-22-2013 09:09 PM

Current performance wiring is doing the car jones'n spoke of.
Looks to be done from his Facebook page

There are plenty of options for tuning, we tune them all the time at my shop. But yes the aftermarket for dodge in general is pretty limited and expensive.

There are only 2 good Chrysler products worth owning.... a Cummins truck or a Viper :jest:

Maybe the new Wrangler or Grand Cherokee that will have a turbo diesel option.

Noremac 04-24-2013 08:07 AM

I call bs on aftermarket support. I own and daily drive a supercharged, and cammed srt magnum... Tuning is widely available, even on the new cars. They are heavy, but very comfortable IMO.

But i have been thinking.. If i did happen to blow the hemi up, i would rather spend the money and get an lsa or ls7 before getting another hemi for it.

Did you get the gauges to work or did you go aftermarket ?

So you got a shitty boat. Cool.

s/clsxmagnum 08-02-2013 08:35 AM

gauges

all gauges except speedo work. I haven't spent much time with that one, It uses abs for a signal. It worked before I deleted abs. I will go aftermarket. I will fit them in the stock cluster.

also for nick.... my shitty wagon goes 10.46 at 128 on a low budget build and weighs only 100 more pounds than my friends 2ss. and can seat 5! When you have kids this becomes important.

Disagree. When I owned my SRT8, there were plenty of parts available for it. As far as the inability to put a cam & tune it - that's false too. There are tons of people running cammed hemi's w/ simple mail order tunes.
