Default 6.0l running on a 5.3l tune?

Swapping a 5.3l with 180k with bad casttech heads out on a 03 i believe(drive by cable) suburban with a 2004 lq9. Yes i know about the drive by wire throttle body and such and will probably just swap the whole intake off of the 5.3l over to the lq9.

Problem is though what about the tuning? I wouldnt think there would be really any difference between a tune for a 6.0l and a 5.3l but figured id ask since this is a customers vehicle with about a 45 minute highway drive between us. He is planning on having blackbear or similar write a mail order tune for him eventaully but being on a budget he'd like to wait if he can.

I'd assume it will run fine for a while. Do you have HPT? If so, check the repository and compare stock for stock.

Just find a lq9 file and copy over to your 5.3 tune. I know you want to change you cylinder volume .

Cousin of mine did a LQ4 swap on his single cab 2003 Silverado that once had a 5.3 in it, he used the truck daily to go to school with the 5.3 tune and he never had a single issue. Truck runned pretty strong with the 5.3 tune.

I was told the injectors were different(news to me) and the timing would be way off because the 5.3l runs more timing. Either way id rather be safe than sorry being a customers rig and he is paying for it.

Can't think much would be different other than the resulting AF ratio. Would be a bit lean.

This is correct , although I think it will run without it , it will run much better with this applied

Default Cammed 5.3 to a stock lq9 with 706 heads

I just swapped a cammed 5.3 with a stock lq9 with 706 heads and I definitely feel like I need a tune...the truck runs decent as is but I know it can run a lot better with the right tune...I'll update next week when i tune it for daily driver usage.
