Default Those that have swapped an LS into a Ford, please step inside

Hey guys, Im contemplating swapping a carb'd LS1/T56 combo into a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500. Why? Because Ive always loved the 67 Galaxie and I know, and much prefer the LS series engine...and I got a screaming deal on an LS1 with a T56.

That being said, for those of you who have accomplished some of these odd-ball swaps, Im trying to compile a list of the problems Im going to have. So far the big ones Ive come up with are motor mounts, trans cross member, and headers.

Im planning on running a custom painless wiring harness to take care of the electrical problems. Running a carb with FAST's controller for the coil on ignition. Im planning on at least initially running manual breaks and manual steering with no A/C, so that should simplify the accessories on the front of the motor. Obviously Im going to have to get a custom drive shaft cut to mate up to the Ford 9 inch out back.

Clearly, this is just a short list of potential problems, and Im just barely getting started with the planning stages of this little project, but I wanted to poll the audience to see what other issues I have to look forward to.

Thanks for any and all help!

I'll respond to your PM tomorrow... need sleep. Got in a "fight" with one of the control arms for the Panoz and stayed up way too late.

If you haven't already you should come out to the local Cars & Coffee at La Promenade shopping center off of Laskin. It's the first Saturday each month.

Anything further on this? Have a 65 Galaxie with the 352 in it and was thinking LS1 or 5.3 iron block for a swap with a 4L60 behind it.

Nada. I have up on the Galaxie as I decided to keep my Z06 and get something a little more versatile as a daily driver so I bought a 1972 Suburban and Im currently compiling parts for the swap into that....will be starting a build thread shortly.

72 Sub will be a nice project. Putting in a 6L and 4L80 would make a nice ride.

I just acquired a 62 galaxie. I'm contemplating a ls swap. It's got a straight body. Interior is trashed. I'm not sure if the current motor runs yet.

Ford body = Ford engine = Any mill from Ford worth a crap before the DOHC stuff was 900# plus. Of course, nowadays things are better, but so is an LS (and cheaper too)...
