This is my 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, The swap consists of complete drivetrain replacement with the following LQ4 with a Z06 cam, the motor came from BD Engines, It's also getting a NV4500 and a NP 205 transfer case, as well as a Currie 9" rear with 35 spline axles and ARB air locker,Old Man Emu 4" lift. For the process it was easiest and most beneficial to take it down to the bare frame and start back fresh.....My buddies shop TMX Motorsports is doing the work....

This is what we started with, I have had the truck for 10+ years but it ran like **** so it has been sitting for a while....

This is where it sits as of today waiting on some small pieces, parts, changing oil pan and pickup to a camaro for clearance, got camaro manifolds...there are some other pictures that I need to include so I will be editing as needed...feel free to critique I can always use a good idea to 2, things that I am stuck on right now, adapters to make factory sending units work in the LQ4, I have found some that are close to what I need but not exact...they may end up being sacrificed and re-tapped to metric threads.......I have a little to learn about a/c and what it's going to take to make it work.... Should move pretty good, has a Z06 cam in it and a 4.11 gear...Can't wait to have it done....will update as progress is made, This forum and IH8MUD.com have been a huge help...

I had an '84 FJ60.... named Mr. Hanky. We painted it the original poo brown and it cost us around $4K.... but the truck looked killer with some pearl in it.

With 2-3 people in it and all our snowboard/ski gear it wouldn't go faster than 35mph uphill at elevation in Tahoe. With no overdrive it definitely got crappy gas mileage..... but I can't count the number of thumbs ups I got driving that rig around. It rode like a stagecoach even with the OME lift..... I upgraded to a '97 LX450 (FZJ80) with custom GT35R turbo on the factory 4.5 liter straight 6. That truck moved out and rode like a comfy leather couch! 11-13mpg though....

I had always wanted to do an LS swap in either the FJ60 or the FZJ80. This should be a bad *** ride when its done.

Thanks for the replies...4bt was to shakey for my wants...had thought about a mitsubishi diesel but i want to beat on this thing and do donuts...not saying a diesel couldn't do it but not what I was looking for in this build...an 80 would be sick...maybe next time...to update ups brought some parts today but still waiting for more stuff to come...mud racing this weekend so not sure how much time will get spent working on the truck but would like to get the drivetrain back in the chassis.....

It's alive.....had to jump through a bunch of hurdles but it starts,runs and moved under it's own power, still have lots to do tailpipes, bleed brakes, put interior back in,a/c lines, not sure this list will ever be complete... had a couple issues, electric fan is popping the fuse on the high setting, need to figure it out, fuel pump was crap and would not pump fuel straight out of the box, it's the trick flow linked above, it will be going back to summit, it turns on and hums but doesn't pump fuel....spent about 2 hours messing with that and finally swapped it out with an old electric pump that was still in the back of an old totaled derby car.... so glad to finally be at this milestone...now can't wait for donuts and burnouts....and the first camping trip....here's the video of the startup....

The FJ is coming along nicely. I have a Toyota Pickup I've swapped an LS into, and have battled it for quite some time, it looks like you've got the tools and the know-how. Awesome work so far, looking forward to seeing it done.

Hey nuke I read through your thread .4x4 builds are very under appreciated by the hot rod community , but anyone that has done one can appreciate the fact that it takes twice the fab work to pull off swaps like the one that you are doing. I read your questions on hacksters build. You always want to use the fuel filter after the pump because these pumps can't suck very well and any restrictions can hurt there performance, and always make sure u have a baffle or add fuel cell foam to ur tank as we'll to avoid surging or lean conditions which can trash your engine.

Also the fuel pump I recommend is the walburo in line pump 255 lph. It's a good pump and allows u a lot of growing room in case u ever decide to change injectors for a cam swap or run any power adders. I hope I have help u at least a little bit. Got some more done today, transfer case problems seem to be resolved, adjusted the shifter linkage and it is much happier now, shifts smoothly and stays in gear...bled brakes for what seemed like hours, the stock proportioning valve was trashed and had a bunch of rust in it, it was trying to flush the rust through the system, completely disassembled entire brake system and cleaned all lines and bled some more, pedal is getting better and the brakes are working but it feels like there is still air in the system, throttle response has vastly improved since changing out the fuel pump, the first one I got was bad....still a ways to go but it's getting closer....got some video today and some more poser pics......
