Why not just drill hole and use a rubber grommet?

Either way there will be a hole. So might as well save yourself the headache of crimping all those wires from a harness to a bulkhead connector and then crimping all the wires for the other side of the bulkhead connector.

Only advantage I see of doing it would be for quick and easy motor removal. You could dissconnect from the fire wall and leave harness intact on engine and just lift it out.

Second advantage, a bulkhead connector does a much better job at keeping water/fire out.

If you put the grommet in a good spot, you won't get much water trying to go through it. But if you're concerned with fire coming through a one inch hole, then you have bigger problems to worry about, like your engine is on fire....

Yeah, they work great, and less janky than a grommet.

Using the Deutsch connectors would be my number one choice. HD20 and HD30 series are nice. As well as the DRC Series.

If there was any good available spot on my firewall I would have went this router over a grommet.

Maybe whenever I do A/C delete plate and vintage air I'll have a spot for it.

My luck, water will find a way in which I don't want since it'll be sitting out in the weather. Also my luck if I had an engine fire, I want it in the engine compartment, not smoldering on the insulation in the car to burst in flames later Just my personal preference to use a bulkhead when I can.

You should get the Deutsch HD ones then since they're aluminum, the plastic ones will melt away and leave a bigger hole....lol!.

I don't know about the reasonably priced but Molex and Amphenol connectors are military grade and super rugged.
