"...will a motor from a silverado/escalade fit in?" Absolutely. It's the same physical size as your LS1. You will have to drill a hole in the 6.0L block for your alternator bracket, otherwise all you other LS1 accessories should bolt right up.

"...or will i have to get one from a GTO or CTS?" Nope. Go with a 6.0L from a truck: should be alot cheaper. Lots of threads on here about 6.0L swaps. You should check em out.

Just keep in mind the truck engines are cast iron, not aluminum, so you'll add about 100lbs of weight up front. Lots of people do it and it works. Just something to be aware of.

My cousin bought a 98 firebird6.0 from an 03 Escalade with an egr delete in it. the o2 sensor kept causing problems and they changed the computer just to be sure. now the vibration sensor causes the engine to go out at 3500 rpms. none of the electronics are defective and we can't find out what to do. the exhaust was also taken out of the escalade too. what do we do?!?
