Default Tubular K-Member & 5.3 truck intake - Fit under SN95 Mustang stock hood???

Is there any after market tubular k-member that will allow me to keep my 5.3 factory truck intake in SN95 Mustang?

I understand that the 4.6 k-member will work but will place the motor too high. Here is a shot of truck vs. car intake. Also is a picture of a Fox Mustang with Maximum Motorsport K-member with 4.6 motor mounts. It looks like there is plenty of clearance under the hood for truck intake. From what I have read, after market tubular k-member will drop the engine a little.

Thanks

Waid

I have an 02 Mustang with an AJE k member and a truck intake on my 5.3 and the stock hood closes. I made all of my own mounts and kept the engine as low as possible(about 1/2" off of the steering rack).

My 85 the hood won't shut with an LS6 intake and truck accessories. On the hunt for f-body accessories as I type.

99MUSTANG5.3L,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I assume the AJE K member also solves the exhaust clearance problems?

I would love to see some pictures of your truck intake, engine bay & mounts.

I have a 4.8 and a 5.3 and a 4L60E and all them has 50,000 miles on it. After pulling the valve covers off, I could not resist! The yard was closing and got all three for $1200 and are complete pull out. The 4.8 & 4L60E came out of a 2002 Yukon and the 5.3 came out of a 2001 Silverado. I am looking to keep factory fuel injected and about the only mod I am planning to do is a bigger cams for both.

I want to put both 4.8 & 5.3 in SN95 Mustang to keep the cost down!!! One with 4L60E Auto for the track and 2nd with T5 5-Speed as a daily driver. I know a guy that has a 5.3 with a T5 and runs it hard (no burn outs) and seem to hold up. I have several spares so not worried about the T5.

I was looking at foxbody but looking at SN95 V6 Mustang since it already has better brakes, 5 lugs wheels and GT rear end can be had for little as $100 at pic-a-part. 1994-2004 SN95 Mustangs are cheap and can pick up one for little as $1000 in good shape. The 94-98 Mustangs are generally cheaper than the 99-2004. I also considered an S10 but Mustangs are so cheap and has much better rear ends.

I know the power difference between the 4.8 and 5.3 is small but the 4.8 can rev. higher.

Thanks

Waid

99MUSTANG5.3L sent me some pics. Looks the truck intake does fit but will require the alternator to be relocated.

The oil pan is F-Body with custom motor mounts to get the motor even lower!

Dynatech headers fit perfect with the AJE K member but since you shortened the mounts a little bit you might have clearance problems with the stock steering shaft. Nothing a few taps with a hammer won't fix...

also stock A-arm on passenger side might need a little bit of clearancing. They have a little extra meat on the back side of them that get close to the header.

Mark,

Is your 5.3L mated to a 4L60E ?

I want to keep the air bags intact. Are your air bags still works?

I found a diagram and looks like the SRS controlled is not tied to the engine ECU.

Thanks

Waid, I dont think they do. Reason I say that is because when I wrecked the last car(01Mustang) it was a pretty good hit right on the front right and I had no airbag deployment. I will look over the diagram you posted at another time. I would really like for the bags to work properly.

Yes my car is a 4l60E for the time being. I plan to go turbo as soon as the budget allows and then I will upgrade to a 4l80e or T56.

Mark, when you get a chance, send me pic of the alternator bracket that you made and will post it too.

Thanks

Waid, I didn't make a bracket for the low mount alt.,I followed a thread on here where the guy just drilled and tapped the boss that is on the truck blocks. Search here for a thread on low mount alt relocation and it should come up for you.
