Default thinking about building a 73-80 CCSB 4x4 for the kids

as much as i love having a fast car, i feel i would get a whole lot more use and family time out of a 4x4. beach cruising, rock crawling(mild), trail riding, etc.

my better judgement says to just get a 01/02 tahoe, but i'm itching for a resto-mod old-school truck these days.

here's what i have in mind:

- get a 73-80 crew cab K20/K30 and modify the frame for a short bed, while fully boxing it at the same time(a must).

- if the price is right, i could get an 81-90 and swap the front clip, or get a C20/C30 and make it a 4x4.

- although i'd stick with the 454 until all the rest is of the build is completed, EFI is a no-brainer for me. i would either do a "stock" 8.1/4L80 swap or do a 6.0/4L80 and a small turbo.(not trying to race.)

- dynamat and class up the interior a lot.

- maybe a 4" lift with some nice modern, non-bling, non-redneck wheels.... maybe OEM 2008's.

Me and my buddy cut my cc down. But it's 2wd and lowered. I'm looking for a cab for it right now. Mine has some cancer
